17.08. - 19.08.11
Montanita
On Wednesday morning, 17.08.11 at 9.30am I took the"buseta" (privat taxi) to GUAYAQUIL. For three hours we drove along the windy roads through the National Park CAJAS and the view and the landscape was just breath-taking. At one point we were even above the clouds and only saw the peaks of the mountains and when we drove further down we suddenly drove through a thick rainforest.
About three hours later I arrived at the "buseta" terminal from where I took a taxi to the main and huge bus terminal in Guayaquil. I was very lucky when I could straight jump onto the next bus to MONTANITA which was only 2 ½ hours away.
On the bus I was meeting Yessenia from Guyaquil in Ecuador who was sitting next to me. For the whole trip we were just chatting and it was quite interesting as she is now living with her boyfriend and her son in Oslo in Norway. At about 3pm we arrived in MONTANITA but unfortunately it was cloudy and drizzling a bit. Both of us wanted to stay at a quiet Hostal as we knew that Montanita is a party place and therefore we crossed the bridge and found a nice place called "Hostal Escondita"…..and we were lucky as we were both got a huge single room for only 10 USD.
Montanita is blessed with the countries best surf and for locals and for tourists it means bare feet, baggy shorts, surf, beach, cocktails, nice restaurants and party scene.
Thank God the rain stopped and I put on my shorts and my flip flops and walked down the beach. From there I had a stroll through the nice little "beach resort" and had something to eat. At night I went for a cocktail with Yessi and she told me a bit more about her live in Spain and now in Oslo.
The other day I had a sleep in and went for breakfast at a nice café. It was warm even though that it was cloudy. Around lunch I walked along the beach and took some photos. On my way back I bumped into Yessi and we agreed of going out for dinner at around 7pm. After I had a nap at our great hostel I went into town to find a Massage place. I was lucky as I could get a massage straight away for only 10 USD and the Ecuadorian girl was really good and tough.
Later on I met with Yessi for dinner and again we had some interesting talks about traveling, guys and Ecuador. When we went home that evening we made an appointment for the next morning to have breakfast together before we leave Montanita.
So on our last day, Friday morning, 19.08.11 we walked to our favourate restaurant where we both had a huge breakfast. At 10am everyone of us caught their buses. Yessi was going back to Guayaquil and I took the bus to PUERTO LOPEZ. We quickly exchanged emails addresses and Yessi invited me to Oslo whenever I am back in Europe.
