Morro de Sao Paulo
As the sea was too rough the catamaran didn't go to the Island Tinhare and I took another speedboat with two guys from Israel who I met at the ferry terminal. Half an hour later a mini bus took us across the Island to the harbour close to VALENCA where another little speed boat was waiting for us.
When we arrived at MORRO DE SAO PAULO the three of us didn't have an idea where to stay. So we followed the recommendation of the "guys with the wheelbarrows" who brought our backpacks from the harbour to the "third playa". The two Israeli guys went into a hostel and I was lucky to find a very nice "Posada" for 30 Real including breakfast.
I went straight to the beach even though it wasn't sunny but it was warm enough to relax at the beach and read a book. I loved the little Beach Resort. First of all because there were no paved roads, just sandy walkways through the whole village, secondly because it was quiet and not packed with tourists and thirdly as there were plenty of nice cafes, restaurants, little ACAI huts and lots of shops.
At night I just strolled around the little village and had a Caipirinha at one of the nice bars with life music.
When I woke up on Thursday, 02.06.11 the sun tried very hard to break through the clouds but it was nice and warm and therefore I decided to walk along the 4 km long beach. Just after the "natural piscine" with loads of fish in it I bumped into Carlos. Carlos was trying hard to convince me to go for an hour of horse riding across the island. Well as it wasn't a day for the beach I said YES and 2 Minutes later we were riding along the beach.
I LOVED it and Thank God Carlos could speak Spanish and therefore I could ask him loads of question. When we arrived on the other side of the Island we went to the "Mud pools". Unfortunately I didn't have my bikini on but I put loads of the "healthy mud" on my legs which were covered with mosquito bites. Carlos took some pictures of me and we walked along the beautiful white sandy beach.
Unfortunately it started raining and we jumped on our horses and rode back. Both of us were soaked when we arrived back at the "third beach". Carlos who obviously liked me, walked me back to my Posada where he suggested going for a swim. So I took my bikini and off we went for a quick swim in the nice warm water. Fortunately the sun came out a bit and we could sit at the beach where we had a nice chat.
When he walked me home I bumped into the nice couple from Sao Paulo and their daughter who I met on the speed boat the day before from Salvador. So I said Good Bye to Carlos and thanked him for the great morning.
They asked me if I would like to join them for lunch and even though I don't speak a word of Portuguese I joined them at their table. We all shared a huge plate of fish and Lobster which was absolutely delicious and the best was we were sitting right at the beach.
Friday, 03.06.11 was a horrible day…..it was raining so heavy that I didn't even leave the Posada in the morning. So I just did some emailing and uploading some photos….as usual!
Around lunch it stopped raining for about two hours and I walked up to the lighthouse from where I had a stunning view down to the beach. Again I bumped into the couple from Sao Paulo who were about to leave the island. We quickly exchanged emails and they invited me to Sao Paulo!
At 5pm I took the boat back to the main land and then the bus to VAENCA. When the bus was running out of petrol and we had to wait for a new bus for 45 Min. I was stressing a bit as I had to get my next bus at 9pm to PUERTO SEGURO…..BUT I still had plenty of time at the bus station for dinner and to get changed.
At 9pm the bus arrived and I went off to PUERTO SEGURO (8 ½ hours) my next destination!
