Sorry it’s been so long!! It’s been a busy few weeks and I have been enjoying my time with my lovely sister!
Where was I last! Oh yes! I was on a beach in Koh Phangan! So the main reason I was at Koh Phangan is because every month they have a Full Moon Party! It’s huge and the whole island celebrates it! There is a whole beach full of people the predicted amount on the beach was 40,000!!! That’s crazy!
So I met some really nice people at my hostel and we decided to go out to one of the pre parties! It was actually St Patricks Day, which worked out pretty well! We got a cab down to the main bit of the island were the party is called Haad Rin Beach. We were in a group of about 6 but then we all had friends that we were meeting up with there so it turned out to be a group of about 12/13 ish! We had a few drinks at the only Irish bar there and then headed onto the beach! It was mentally! There were fire spinners in every direction you look at one point there was a girl about the age of 10 doing it! The Full Moon parties are famous for their bucket drinks. You actually get given a bucket to drink from it comes with a small bottle of vodka, redbull (which is crazy here) and sprite! You can change this up for whiskey if you prefer! I didn’t buy any because they were pretty expensive I just enjoyed the music and dancing! We were all dancing till about 3am and it started to pour down with rain! Like a monsoon! It was so fun I stayed out in it but the crowds were getting thin by this point! So at 5am when we had had enough of the rain we went inside the club and carried on dancing! At this point I probably should have gone home but I was enjoying it far too much so decided to stay up till sunrise! That was a lot of effort! Wow! But it was defiantly worth it! We started to head home at about 7ish but stopped for a sandwich on the way back. Good Sandwich!! We managed to get a tuk tuk back and I have some funny photos!
The next day I managed to drag myself out of bed at about 2pm! What a waste of a day but luckily for me it was raining so I didn’t feel too guilty! We watched films on the plasma TV and when I finally found the energy to get up I ordered food! What a hard life!
The next day after that was pretty much a write off as well apart from going to get my full moon outfit! Fluorescent I got paint to paint myself in as well! I didn’t go out but stayed up and had a few beers to be social but had a pretty early night!
Full Moon Day arrived and you could feel the atmosphere!! Everyone was exciting more and more people filled the resort and it got louder and louder! We started playing beer pong in the afternoon to prepare, we heard that if you have a little drink early on it gets into your body ready for more drink later (plus we just fancied a drink). Instead of buying buckets at the party we bought 2 litre bottles of water emptied them and put vodka, redbull and sprite. It wasn’t the nicest of drinks but it was a lot cheaper than buying them there and a lot safer as well! A lot of people get drugs put in there drinks so having a drink with a lid was defiantly a good idea! We made straps to attach to our bottles so it was always at our disposal. After the extensive decorating of my bottle I moved to my legs and arms! We all painted each other in fluorescent paints so that when we got onto the beach we all glowed in the UV lights! I had one whole leg covered in a patchwork of different colours! It was pretty cool if I do say so myself! I also had a flower wrapped round the other leg and all sorts of different patterns on my arms!
When we were all decorated from head to toe! Literally! We had some photos and hopped into a cab it was jam packed! There were a lot of us! (even more had gathered since the other night out) We all had glow in the dark bracelets and necklaces! So we looked pretty cool! We got down to the beach at it was insane!! More so than I ever thought it would be! There were just so many people and more coming all the time! There were bars all down the beach all blasting out there type of music and serving up there type of bucket cocktails! There was one whole section of the beach devoted just to buckets! All different bucket sales people screaming at you to buy theirs! There was just so much going on there! We saw people doing limbo over fire, people skipping with ropes that were on fire! Many people swimming in the sea (which I would not recommend Haad Rin Beach is known for its rip tides) and just thousands of people dancing in every direction!
So we got there at about 10ish! We all actually made into the beach together and I have to say after about 10mins we lost each other! There was no way with that many people there that we were going to all stay together! Luckily Alex my dancing buddy stayed with me and we had a great time together! It wasn’t till about 4am that I lost him somewhere, he was chatting up some girls and we just lost each at the bar! I think I was walking round for about 2mins until I bumped into someone else I knew! Not long after we got talking I lost him as well! Not doing very here (think I was a little drunk at this stage) So I wondered down the beach to see what was happening and I knew some of my friends would be at a certain bar so I walked down that way! I stumble, well nearly tripped over one of my friends who were taking a nap on the beach! He was actually passed out and very ill because someone had drugged him but I didn’t know this at the time so I just lay down on the beach as well and slept! I don’t know how long but when I woke up it was bright sunshine! I think it was about 8am. So I dragged my friend up (he was about 6.7ft) and walked him back into town to grab a taxi! What I actually found was a motorbike taxi! He agreed to take the both of us for a fair whack!! 500bht each (10pounds) not a lot in English terms but tonnes in Thailand! (I had a room in Chaing Mai for 70bht a night) So we both clambered onto this motorbike! (like you shouldn’t) but I really wanted to get home and my friend Tom really really needed to get home!! So we tootled off down the ups and downs of the Koh Phangan at one point it didn’t think we were actually going to make it up the hill because it was so steep and Tom wasn’t the lightest of guys! I was pretty happy/drunk still so I wasn’t too worried (probably should have been) and was scrapping my flip flops along the floor (no injury was obtained). When we eventually got back Tom disappeared to his bungalow and I crashed out in mine!
Next day I woke up at about 4pm in the afternoon I don’t think that I even moved in my sleep! Not an inch!! I felt awful but when I looked outside my bungalow there were a lot of people in the same condition! So I managed to stumble over the tables and order some food to make me feel better! And like the other day I watched films and chilled out! Tom didn’t surface all day! Poor thing. The good thing about the day after was that everybody had stories to tell! My friend Alex that I lost found one of the girls and they got back together about 9am!! And some of the others watched sunrise whilst other people crashed earlier!
Tom didn’t surface all day! Poor thing.
Next day Tom eventually popped his head out and he thanked me for saving his life! He explained to me that something that he drank had drugs in it and he passed out on the beach, no one tried to help him but he was conscious enough to only see people walk past not enough to ask for help! So when I flopped down next to him I was totally oblivious!! (no surprise there). I don’t know if he remembers getting on the bike, maybe he wouldn’t be so grateful then!
So since the full moon party I headed into Phuket to fly to Oz!! Ohh exciting! I didn't really do much in Phuket a little bit of shopping (whilst it was still cheap)
I met some nice Canadians and we went out for drinks/dancing it turned out to last longer than I thought. Got in and went to bed only to start thinking about what time I had to get up in the morning to start flying to Australia. Also in my really rubbish room I had a mosquito flapping round the room, so between that and being terribly excited to see Chrissy I did not sleep (and covered in bites)! So awake, WIDE awake I got into the shower at half 6 in a hostel that is unheard of! I got my things ready and prepared for the airport!!!!
I had to fly from Phuket to Singapore to Perth. I slept most of both flights which is always great when you have time to kill!
Finally arrived at Perth nervous about going through customs (I heard they can be pretty brutal) turns out they don't care lol! I sailed through got my bags and Chrissy was right there!! Brilliant I think one of the first things she said to me was "what are you wearing you look ridiculous" lol typically Chrissy not how was your flight!! Haha!
Got back had some much need pasta! Ahhhh not rice!! And a glass of wine I think the best tasting glass of wine ever! I missed it so much!! (I know this I were I'm meant to talk about how I missed my sister but I love wine maybe a little more hehe)
So I got settled in ad had a good rest! Me and Chrissy got up early and even though there isn't much of a time distance from the travelling I felt a bit hazy. Chrissy took me into Perth to see the city it's pretty nice I'm not going to lie. We walked round the pier had a few glasses of cider and headed back. It was pretty hot about 38 degrees so we watched a film in the comfort of aircon which is great! I met Chrissy's housemates Jayne a Mickey later on and we watched some TV together, had a glass of wine ect!
On the Saturday we went to Chrissy's friend’s house, she has a pool so we chilled next to it whilst eating junk food and having a BBQ an ideal day!!
We went out that night with Chrissy's friends to a local club where it was someone’s birthday; we had a great dance and a really good laugh!!
Sunday we went to Freemantle it's were everyone goes for drinks on a Sunday session! So we had fish and chips for lunch had a nice walk round the markets and then went for a drink in the pub!! Perfect!
The next day Chrissy went back to work so I had the week to do as I pleased it mainly consisted of watching films nut I signed up to agencies for work! Chrissy's friend got me a job in the end. I also found a car and bought it on the Friday. At the weekend we drove down to Scarborough beach and had a laze there it was beautiful, lots of surfers and bright blue sky (as always in Perth) white sand screening you see on a postcard of Aus. really!!
Next we drove down to Hillarys boat harbour and had a walk round there was a boat show on which displayed amazingly huge speed boats which were amazing and worth more than I will earn in 10years lol (that's until I'm a millionaire) I had an ice cream (not quite as good as Parkgate) and Chrissy had a smoothy and we watched people pretending they had enough money to buy boats!! We went for another small walk on the way back to the car (which we lost) and they we drove back via sunset drive home. When we got back it was clear to see that Chrissy was burnt all over her arm just one side from the car!! Oh dear!!
When we got back we spoke to Chrissy's friend an she wanted to drive us round and show us the sunset by where she lives which is swan valley it's where all the vineyards are. It's not a bad place to live, we tried to get there but my car wouldn't start and I panicked I had only bought it a few days earlier. So I googled everything that could be wrong with it and this thing came up about hitting the dashboard when you turn it over. So after trying a few other things I gave it ago. IT BLOODY WORKED! Haha. So my car is crazy! We drive to Chrissy's friends house (who is also called Chrissy – they call my Chrissy Jimmy because they both work together) and she drove us up all these beautiful hills and she told me that there is sometimes kangaroos!! Well this made me very excited so I stared out the window determined to spot one and I DID!!! It was quite far away but my eye sight was working well, we stopped the car and went to look at it, I was squealing with excitement at this point! It was hilarious looking as I’m sure you will know if you have seen one before! But it was literally hysterical! It hopped which made it even better because they look so funny when they hop. I don’t know what size I expected it to be but it was huge!
Anyway after that we went to watch the sunset we drove to this huge damn and we walked over to the side and you could swear you were in a movie of some kind maybe that film called Australia lol! But it was beautiful! So much clear blue sky colliding with reds and oranges. Brilliant! After that Chrissy as in Chrissy’s friend took us to the best pizza place around (apparently) me and Jayne struggled to deal with all the smoke that was in the room but yes admittedly the pizza was pretty good! No dip though!
Next week I started my job it was pretty cushy really I was getting paid loads of money to sit on reception for 8hours and answer about 10 calls all day. Boring!! But I made them give me more work because otherwise the days dragged! I folded paper, sent emails and emptied dishwashers lol! A glamorous life. At the end of the week the manager told me that I was the best receptionist they had ever had and that if I ever want a job in WA then she would try and get me one it their company! Ace! On Fridays in Perth it is also traditional to finish early and have drinks with work. One of my jobs for the week was to order the booze – SWEEEETTT. So I stayed like a good person and had a few beers. Knowing that Chrissy had her work do that night dressed as Queen Latifa (long story and this is long enough) I said I would meet her out. I went out with one of the guys from work to meet her and called Chrissys friend Jayne and she met us there. Know my intention was to set Chrissy up with this guy but as Chrissy had been out since 1pm drinking errrmmmm not so much! My darling sister who had had too much to drink got kicked out of the bar at 9pm but it wasn’t her fault bless her, the bouncer was on a pure power trip. So me and Jayne went in the bar and Chrissy went to bed. We had a good dance with her work mates and I kept getting mistaken for Chrissy. WEIRD!
We headed home after several free drinks from Chrissy’s tab and got some chips. The next was spent all feeling sorry for ourselves! I had a car so drove to McDonalds for the ultimate hangover cure and we ever scored a free burger! So after watching a film or two I dropped Chrissy home (Chrissy’s friend – we took her home with us as she got left on her own) and then we decided we were going to go and see a drive in movie.
Best idea ever!! We paid 10$ each to see two films, we had chairs and table, a full picnic and snacks galore!! It got a bit chilly so we all climbed into the boot of my car and huddled together! Would have been romantic if it wasn’t my sister and Jayne lol! Anyway the film was brill and I’m defo going to do it again!!
Sunday rolled around and we got up to go to see Chrissy’s friend for her birthday, she was having a champagne picnic at the park across the street from Chrissy’s house. (it’s bigger than the central park in America – it’s pretty big) it’s a gorgeous location for a champagne breakfast. There is a tonne of space, ponds free bbqs and it’s sunny as always in Perth! I basked in the sun like a cat while Chrissy chatted away to her friends. It was a nice day. In the afternoon me, Chrissy and Jayne decided to go down to Cottesloe and have a wonder down the beach. It was a really sunny day so we went for a drink (I had half a cider-yum one of my new fav’s) and then we walked along the surf and collapsed on a bit of grass just above the beach. Not a bad way to enjoy a Sunday afternoon.
This week has been a nightmare due to car related issues but I don’t want to get into that!! Not worth remembering! But either way Stephen arrives here today!! It’s only taken me about a week to write this blog which is why it is all over the place please excuse the spelling mistakes ect!!
So the plans for this week are as follows!!
Ste arrives today (wahoo) – I’m picking him up from the airport about 9 this evening and then we are staying in a nice hotel for a few days (I think we both deserve this after me sleeping on Chrissy’s floor for 3weeks and him staying in hostels for 3months lol) Then Friday and Saturday will be spent chilling on the beach catching up ect.
Saturday night Chrissy is taking us out to Northbridge in Perth for a good dance I think we might be having a Chinese takeaway at Ste’s request beforehand.
Sunday we have got tickets to an AFL match so we will be watching that in the afternoon and then heading to pick Mum and Geoff up from the airport! Wahoo! Then I will be commencing tours central as I have a car and Chrissy is in work most of the week! I can’t wait. It’s going to be great to catch up with everyone!
Anyway I hope this isn’t tooo long a drawn out and it has some points of interest lol! Maybe read it when you are totally bored and have nothing better to do! Once again sorry for the long wait! I will try and be better next time!
Speak to you soon xx
