Hi All,
At the moment we are in Puno which is in Peru. Tomorrow we are going to stay with a local Cachuan family that loves on an Island in Lake Titicaca.
The trip to Puno was really interesting as it is very dry and freezing in the shade but boiling hot in the sun. Today we were on a 6 hour bus from Cusco to Puno and it was just miles and miles of endless bleached out looking grass - completely flat yet on every horizon you could see the alp´s which are amazing and sport the occasional glacier... and the few houses dotted around are all made of mud brick and incomplete (aparently that way you pay less tax and can expand the house more easily when your kids get married and move their partners in with you... great huh... there were also quite a few Llamas which people farm for both the meat and their coats. (Softest blanket I´ve ever bought and yummiest meat I´ve ever tried!)
Don´t worry Monique I still haven´t tried Guniea Pig! (But apparently it tastes like rabbit for anyone who is curious)
Any way I´m getting tired of contending with the Spanish keyboard so I wish you all Buenos Noches,
Kristin.
