Vietnam - arriving into Hanoi airport we decided to become instant millionaires and draw out a couple of million (dong) from the ATM - about £60! Hanoi was pretty crazy, very busy place with thousands of motorbikes lining the streets, however a lively place which was nice. One night in Hanoi then we went on a trip to sapa, for a couple of days trekking and staying with a hilltribe! After returning to Hanoi by night train (another 10 hours travelling) we got straight onto a bus to halong bay. Awesome place with hundreds of little islands, where we did sailed out and did a bot of kayaking. After an unsuccessful entry into a kayak involving only me falling in, we kayaked around the islands for a bit then had a look at the caves. At the same time me and ed amused the rest of the group by joking around with the tour guide and discovering rude shapes made by the rocks in the caves! We spent a night on the boat which included pointless shrimp fishing (nobody has ever caught any!) and copious amounts of bia Hanoi consumed whilst playing a variety of card drinking games! (chicken game and roxanne ranking amongst the favourites). The next day we went back to hanoi and caught a sleeper bus to hue, not much sleep gained as there are no Vietnamese people over the size of 4ft 5, meaning the beds are the same size!! We spent a night in hue and got motorbikes the next day to drive down to hoi an! A great experience, especially when mingling with the thousands of locals and jockeying for pole position at the traffic lights! On the same roads as the top gear lads in the Vietnam special!
