Well well well... from March 28th to April 3 my mom and dad and I spent our time in London. I surprised my parents by arriving in London by myself from Stockholm and knocking on their bedroom door. I think they were sleeping becuase they looked pretty tired when they answered the door. Welcome to Jet-lag Mom and Dad! The first day I was so exhausted from my trip to Russia I just wanted to crash and sleep for the week! But no, we didn't do that at all. We started off right away sight seeing and experiencing London as a real tourist! I think that first day we walked about 4 or so miles to find our first destination! The scale on the map sure was wrong! haha.
I won't go in to detail what we saw and did but this is a list of the sights and activities we did:
Westminster Abbey, Big Ben, Houses of Parliament, Changing of the Guards at Buckingham Palace, The Queens Gallery, The Royal Mews, St. James Park, London Bridge, Tower Bridge, Tower of London, St. Paul's Cathedral, houses that Prince Harry and his brother live (gosh, how could I forget his name???), Madame Tussaud's Wax Museum, The Guards Museum and Chapel, National Gallery, Trofalgar Square, Piccadilly Circus (like a Times Square), and a special day trip to Bath and Pangbourne.
I think I could have spent at the most one more day in London. With all the hustle and bustle of the city it was hard to adjust to the London lifestyle in comparison to the laid back Sweden and Minnesota I was used to! It was a dirty city and the hotel we stayed at was kind of crummy. But I don't think I would have had an opportunity like this to go to London if it weren't for my parents- so THANK YOU MOM AND DAD!
