Today we left Phnom Penh and began our 6 hour bus journey to Siem Reap. Along the way we stopped off three times. The first was for a much needed toilet break and a nice garlic fried tarantula which only the brave hearted endured in (including myself). The best break was for lunch which was a nice traditional meal where yet again a few very brave boys ate whole chillies. It was the first time I saw so many boys cry. The last stop was at a very old bridge which was built in the thirteenth century. We ended off the day and year arriving into our accommodation for the next 2 weeks, the Golden Village. We then ventured into Pub street where we ate a lovely meal and hit up some of the best dance floors in the country! At 9:30pm the street came alive and the party was brought to the street where over 5 000 people gathered and danced like they've never danced before. We then watched the fireworks display which was spectacular! It was an amazing way to enter into 2012 with the new friends that we've made on this trip around us.
