It was a sight that Saint Stephen's College safety coordinator Mr. Nicol would not be satisfied with. The 'bamboo trains' of Siem Reap. Made of old, broken bamboo and engines that looked as if they had been taken right off a lawn mower; we headed off into the shrubs and thick bush. There was only 1 track, and traffic going both ways. Need-less to say, this wasn't the most efficient method of transport. When one cart met another cart heading the opposite way, one of the two would physically have to dismantle their cart as the other rode past.
The track was bumpy and incredibly loud, as the cart was uncomfortable and packed full of people. Not exactly fun, but all in all, certainly a good experience.
After hoping back of the bus, bottoms aching from the rickety bamboo train, we headed out to lunch. An understaffed hour later, after eating our meals, we headed back home, with a short stop over at the stonemasons central of Cambodia. All in all, it was a great day. Cheers to all involved.
