Sydney, New South Wales
After placing my makeup in a clear sandwich bag, i bid my final goodbye to my rather emotional parents. The second i walked through the departure gates i found myself constantly looking back. I'm not too sure wether it was to see one last wave, catch that last blown kiss or just to see a familar face for one last time. For as i looked forward i'm surronded by strangers who are blissfully unaware that a few days ago i struggled to open a fridge door and here i am attempting to travel to the other side of the world!
The moment i passed through secruity i found the nearest toilet where i i proceeded to cry for a little while untill repeating the words 'suck it up' in my head. After attempting to saviour the remains of my makeup i pretended to be interested in a few bottles of perfume in the hopes of feeling a little less guilty for stealing a few squirts. I then sat myself in infront of a screen awaiting to see my gate number. To say i was anxious would be an understatement. I must have checked my handbag for my passport atleast 8 times whilst sitting in the same position. Eventually an hour and 2 trashy magazines later i boarded flight VS200 to Sydney. Little did i know they now sit you in couples (even when travelling there is no escaping the fact im single) Needless to say i ended up without a travel companion (sympathy sound goes here) which i'd like to think was the best result all round. As not only did i manage to sleep for 9 hours of the flight but also nobody had to witness the fact that the provided eye mask and blanket matched the cardigan i was wearing. Which by the way, made me look as though i was wearing an all in one! The type you can only purchase on QVC or from the betterware magazine!
During my flight i managed to eat a few rather sickly in flight meals, watch the sun set over Hong Kong, it rise in Australia and go the longest time in my life without having a conversation with anyone! The silence sadly didnt stop there as even after landing at the predicted 6.30am i was not reunited with Charlotte untill gone 8.30am.
Goodbye Wales - Hello again Sydney xx
