Well I arrived yesterday in NEW YOIK BABY- I left from terminal 5 Heathrow, which is a pretty damn nice terminal...oh AND my bag was not lost. An extra bonus. So my flight went pretty quickly, some rather gorgeous Slovakian guy started talking to me in the seating area and then some other dude starting up conversation on the way up to the plane. I must have been pretty approachable yesterday! The plane ride was only 7 hours and went by very quickly- Then I arrived in NY, seeing Manhattan through the plane windows as we came down to land. Waited about an hour for immigration, which was a complete pain but there you go, atleast I made it in. Everyone was really friendly, I managed to get the AirTrain then the 'subway' to Canal Street where Jimmy, my couchsurfing host, said he'd meet me after work. Unfortunately I got there and rang him, to hear the response of 'Oh s*** I thought you were turning up tomorrow!!'. Thankfully he still managed to jump into a cab to come fetch be and bring me back to his apartment in Upper East Side Manhattan. He already had a couchsurfer staying with him that evening, Johan from Belgium- so when we turned up I had a chance to stop and take in everything around me, whilst being hyper from overtiredness, although I slept on the plane briefly. Johan came to join us later on and we went for Sushi over the road, which was really really good. Jimmy's apartment is twee, obviously a good enough size for Manhattan; like living in central London. Man I absolutely love it here, it's like the movies- everything looks a little unreal and the buildings are so HIGH. So after dinner he took us down to his favourite little park by the water on the east side of Manhattan. It was a beautiful evening, so no need for anything warm to wear. Main thing I noticed- I have never seen so many dogs in my life, and serious pedigree ones as well. They even had they're own doggy pen for them all to run around, attracting a crowd to join the owners watching them.
right, I'm going to finish off this blog tomorrow. I've been walking around al day and feel ready to drop- ciao for now-x
