(by spence)Whats up... Well, after one of the best plane rides ever...so smooth...we have reached New Zealand, and its awesome! When we were flying into Christchurch it was incredible seeing so many snow capped mountains! At one point we were level with one of the peaks...very strange! Definately lived up to all the hype and the photos we have been looking through! We arrived at the airport around 3pm local time and went to collect out hire car...a NISSAN SUNNY...1.6 automatic beast!! It fits all our stuff in the boot so the person in the back seat has room to lie down and fall asleep if needs be! We drove to our hostel "base" right in the heart of C'church and checked in for a couple of nights....quite a nice place, in a room of 8 consisting of some BLOODY funny amercian blokes who constantly crack me up! The first day we walked around and got a feel for the place...and the new climate...COLD COLD COLD! Hoodys and jeans on all the time i think... Chirstchurch is pretty nice but no a hell of a lot to do in the city centre.its much smaller than i anticipated too! By the time we had checked in and done all of that stuff, we sorted out our itinery for the following day and went to the bar under our hostel for a couple of cheeky drinks... there was a random event as it was happy hour, where a rock - papar - scissors competition is held...about 12 people entered...Dave only went and won the whole thing....eye of the tiger! Quite funny because the prize was a free rental car for 3 days....1) DAVE CANT DRIVE 2) We had just forked out 900bucks on a rental car that morning for 30 days!!!!!!!! RUBBISH!!!!!!!! So it turned out to be useless and so he gave it to some random bloke at reception wh looked astonished to have a free car for 3 days!!!! Had a reasonable early one that night. The next day we drove around the surrounding mountains of C'Church which was great...just like the lord of the rings...although no frodo or smeagle...actually dave is starting to look like frodo baggins!! Anyway, the drive was great and we got some cool pics that wil be on the site soon! Being ST.PATRICKS DAY we decided to get smashed for the rest of the day...had a great laugh goig around the bars all day/night...got to bed at 5am! We have now driven 5hours south to Duneadon...first impressions are pretty cool...gonna lok in the tour guide and arrange some things to do tomorrow! Still very cold...like being back home in many ways! looking forward to exploring more of the country in our PIMPED ride!!! We have bought an ipod adaptor for 20bucks off an indian with one eye and 3 legs...so are blasting out the tunes!
