Hello everyone well we have had a good time in Beijing.
I'll keep this brief! We had 4 days in Beijing and really enjoyed our time, there is so much history around China. We spent our 1st full day in Beijing having a look around Tiananmen Square and The Forbidden City which was amazing. It was very busy, however everywhere in China seems to be busy, there are that many people! There were many different buildings in The Forbidden City as during the time when the emperors lived there, it also housed the government. It was lovely to see all the Chinese architecture on the numerous buildings.
We also had a day trip to The Great Wall of China which was amazing. Our tour guide told us that it covers over 10,000km, obviously we only saw a very small part! We went to Badaling which was the nearest to Beijing, however it was very steep! The part that we walked on was pretty much a walk up to the top and then we came back down again. There were 8 towers on the way up and every one was a struggle! I realised after this how unfit I am, however there were over 2000 steps! It took us around an hour and a half to get up and about 15 minutes to get to the bottom. The views at the top were worth the walk as you could see various other parts of the wall spiralling into the distance.
During one of the evenings in Beijing we went to the night Bazaar which was a line of different food stalls. It was very interesting to see as the food included meat, fish, star fish, fruit and insects!
Overall our time in Beijing was very enjoyable, we managed to see the Birds Nest and Water Cube from the Beijing Olympics which were pretty spectacular as well as places such as The Forbidden City and The Great Wall which are historic wonders.
