Hi Everyone
Thanks for your messages. Sorry we havent been leaving too many photos or blog entries. We had a busy time in New York, and the remaining few days days of our time there we did even more sightseeing! We went to the Museum of Modern Art, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and paid a visit to Wall Street. We had intended to visit the Statue of Liberty but on Columbus Day, which was Monday 11th October, the queues were crazy busy so we decided not to go ahead with the trip. We did see Liberty from Battery Park, so maybe next time we come to New York we will go ahead and do the boat ride out there. We did see the Columbus Day parade, which went down Fifth Avenue. Whilst down near Battery park, we paid a visit to the 9/11 Memorial Park shop, which explains how Ground Zero will look once the Memorial park has been finished. There were some moving films and exhibitions about 9/11, and we saw and heard lots of construction work going on. We also saw and heard lots of thunder and lightning while we were here. For most of the trip it was lovely and sunny, and then on Monday night we experienced the craziest thunder and lightning storm. We saw on the news later that there had been 300 lightning strikes in the space of 15 minutes!
That pretty much sums up our visit to New York. We have to give massive thanks to Allysia, Chris and Beaker for having us to stay, and for being great hosts and guides. We really appreciate it! It was nice to experience such a great city with friends who live there. Not to mention the great restaurants they took us to! We would definitely return to New York City - it is a fantastic city, and there is so much to see and do here. San Francisco here we come!
