We're having a great time living in Sydney, and have done quite a lot in the city since we've been here. There's always something happening. We won't bore you with all the details, but here's a list of the things we've seen and done:
-
Saw the Chinese Warriors exhibition at the Art Gallery of New South Wales.
-
Bondi Beach - went here on Jeff's birthay!
-
Mirazozo - a giant inflatable coloured tent with different coloured rooms.
-
Walked over the Harbour Bridge. Fabulous views of Sydney and the Harbour.
-
Saw Los Lobos playing in the Domain, as part of the Sydney Festival. Great atmosphere and music. The crowd went wild when they played La Bamba!
-
Saw the Ferrython at Circular Quay, and the fireworks at Darling Harbour, as part of the Australia Day celebrations. The fireworks were spectacular, possibly better than the ones at new year!
-
Visited Luna Park, an old fashioned style theme park.
-
Took a ferry ride to Watsons Bay, and had fish and chips at Doyles. Delicious.
-
Went to the IMAX theatre to see a 3D documentary on Titanic. The IMAX in Sydney is the World's biggest cinema screen.
-
Watched the Chinese New Year parade on George Street, and the fireworks at Darling Harbour.
-
Tried to see the Mardi Gras parade on Oxford Street, Paddington. It was so busy and hectic we barely saw anything..! A good party atmosphere.
-
The Annie Leibovitz photography exhibition at the Museum of Contemporary Art. Saw this in London and it was fab - it was still good the second time around.
-
Saw the Queen Mary 2 and Queen Elizabeth ships whilst they were docked at Sydney Harbour, and saw the Queen Mary 2 as it left Sydney. They were gorgeous ships...maybe one day we'll sail on them, if we can ever afford it!
-
Visited the Blue Mountains....see our separate blog entry and photo album for that.
-
We have also visited a few of the markets that take place around Sydney every weekend, including Glebe, Paddington and The Rocks. They sell really good stuff, both new and vintage....good places to go for souvenirs or mementos from Australia.
We still have lots of things we want to see before we leave....watch this space!
Love Katie and Jeff
