Hi Guys,
Well we can't quite believe it but here we are on our last day in Oz, and tonight we fly to Hong Kong :-( it feels like it has gone so fast! but then again all holidays go too fast eh!
It has not been that long since our last update so will keep this update short and sweet. We have spent the past few days just relaxing and having fun at Airlie Beach, which for those guys who don't know, is about an hour and a half's flight north of Brisbane. It's such a cool place, that consists of one street full of good restaurants, dodgy back-packer joints and lots of bars. So there's not heaps to do here, apart from eat, drink and relax, which we have done plenty of.
Yesterday was our last full day so we thought we would make the most of it and hire out a Mini Moke for the day and take a drive down the coast. OMG, how much fun, I have now told Graham to sell his Porsche and buy a Mini Moke ... I'm not too sure he's convinced on that idea yet!! :-) So yesterday wasn't really the day to be hiring one of these as it was chucking down with rain, and Mini Mokes have no doors! The woman at the hire shop also decided to inform us that Mini Mokes have a tendency to break down in the rain, but you know what we're like, once we get an idea in our heads that's it, we're doing it. So off she sent us with our can of WD40 and instructions that, if you can't find second gear, don't worry, just go straight to the next gear, you'll be right.
We drove to this place called Dingo Beach which was pretty cool. We had the whole beach to ourselves, and when the sun came out (for about 30 mins!) it was like our own little piece of paradise. There's not heaps more to say about Dingo Beach, as the only other thing there is a pub. Of course we had to go in!! It has to be one of the strangest pubs ever. It looked more like a shop than a pub. When we got inside we were greeted by a man dressed as an Irish leprechaun offering Irish stew for $10 a bowl (by the way it was St Paddy's day) So we took him up on his kind offer of cheap stew before heading out for some more fun in the Mini Moke on the way home.
So that's really about it for now. Although we are sad to be leaving Oz, it seems like a wise time to go as there is a category 4 cyclone about 300km off shore heading straight for the Queensland coast. Must say, I am slightly s***ting a brick about flying. May have to request that the captain doesn't fly straight through it! :-)
Our next and final stop is Hong Kong, which for a Chinese-loving Sparky, is heaven ... yummmm Chine Chine for breakfast, lunch and dinner for 3 days running. Reckon I'll come home with slanty eyes!
See ya for now
