Hello!
I have now safely arrived at Eve's house in Perth and am slowly getting over the jetlag! Just sleep a lot I'm beginning to see is the trick!
Had a rather interesting journey - arrived at Heathrow no problem and at check in was told that I had not yet been allocated a seat? mmm slightly worrying but they assured me that I would have one somewhere on the plane and no it wouldn't be the toilet! So said my goodbyes and went through to departures. Was then accosted by some woman doing an airport questionnaire - the highlight question was most certainly "how would you rate the ambience of the airport" - um airport ish???!!! Having escaped more silly questions I got to the gate and found that my seat had been upgraded to premium economy!!!! Result!!! Loads of legroom - not that I need much - Quantas freebie socks, other goodies and the food wasn't bad either! We took off at 11.15am, were promptly served our dinner and then the lights went down for 'night time' - as much as I willed myself to sleep you couldn't really escape the fact that it was barely 2pm! But all in all a good first time long haul experience.
At least so I thought ... as we were late getting into Singapore it was all a bit of a rush but managed to catch the connecting flight withh all of 5 mins to spare so no probs. Until I got to baggage reclaim in Perth!!! Most people had left the belt and gone but I still had no bag?!?! Not good! Basically because the connection was so tight they didn't have time to load all the bags onto the next plane before it took off - that is maybe something I could understand but there was only me and the girl sat next to me who didn't have our bags??? Two bags? How long can it take? But despite a rather stressful few hours, my bag was flown over from Singapore and was delivered to Eve's house later that same evening - in that I only arrived at 3pm you can't really complain too much!
Must have been fate - I had been lucky with my upgrade earlier so something had to go wrong later on! So after a stress free sleep I was ready to see the sights! Today - well it was this afternoon by the time I got up! - we went to Whitfords beach. It is absolutely gorgeous! White sand and clear blue sea and pretty hot too! My toes look a little pink already!! I still find it rather hard to believe that it's 29th December and today I was on the beach!! All sorts planned next week including a music festival at the weekend - temperature set to get up to 39C!!!!!!! HOT! So gonna head off to bed now to well and truly get over the jet lag!
