Border
The border crossing from Cambodia to Thailand by bus was the worst thing in the world. I felt so sick from start to finish, and also way past finish. I sat by the window just incase but had managed to make myself throw up every time we stopped so I didn't feel the urge to do so quite as much whilst we were moving. The queue to get from Cambodia into Thailand took about 3 hours, stood in the sun, during which I was sick 5 times behind a bush, each time returning to pathetically drag my bag a bit further down towards the front of the queue.
The queue at Thailand immigration was not a lot shorter and smelt like decaying fish. I really wish I could be back there.
Bangkok
The next day I was feeling lots better and we decided to have a day at the shopping centre and go to the cinema (watched Skyfall with pizza and popcorn). We stocked up on cosmetics and things Cambodia had been lacking in. Didn't stock up on 'Beer and Egg Shampoo'.... but thanks for the offer, Boots. Maybe next time.
We had Pad Thai for 20 baht (40p) on Rambutri Soi, which is soooo much nicer than Khao San road, before setting off for Koh Tao for a spot of scuba diving! The taxis there are 4x4 trucks with no roof- wind in your hair driving down a palm lined street in Thailand... take me back!
Koh Nangyuan
Stayed in Sairee Bungalows before getting a boat over to Koh Nangyuan to meet up with old Charlie boy (fellow Guern and all round top bloke) who would be our PADI instructor for the open water course! :) Spent a few nights watching Star Wars in his room with some beers. Very chilled few days on this absolute paradise island! Went snorkelling at sunset to try to see black-tipped sharks but no luck :(
Korean couples in matching attire turned up on the Island, like we're told they do week on week, having a joint honeymoon after having just had a joint marriage ceremony... must have been about 50 couples if not more! This epetomises cultural differences completely- I couldn't think of a way I would least like to get married than surrounded by 50 other couples.
Koh Tao
We had a night out at some hidden gems that Charlie, as a local, knew about with his friend AJ- and their puppy, of course. They played Mario in 'The Bar next door' and were infact both in bed by 10pm but me and Kelz tried to continue the night, eventually hitching a lift back after trying to walk and getting surrounded by a pack of dogs.. I don't think Kelz could have jumped any higher and clung to me any tighter than she did!
To the boxing camp...
