Koh Tao
The boat over to Koh Tao was horrendous. All you could hear was people throwing up and all you could smell was vomit! Kim cried. I sat with my head in my hands thinking 'We'll be there soon!'
We'd been upgraded to the family suite-2 bedrooms and a bathroom for the 4 of us. Was lovely! Went out on xmas eve slightly xmasy- I wore reindeer ears and red dress, kim wore some presents attached to her top and the girls put some tinsel on. There wasn't much of a climax at midnight like we thought there would be... but there were lots of people breathing fire who definitely looked like they shouldn't be.
We all opened presents on xmas day from Sarah, who'd brought some things over. We found somewhere that served xmas dinner which was incredibleeeee. Almost better than Mum's! We went for a little xmas swim and wrote messages in the sand with our santa hats and tinsel on, then all skyped family until late and sat in our room playing a quiz!! Perfect really :) It was so strange being away from family, picturing what was going on at home. I think I'll definitely be at home next christmas! We set of a lantern on boxing day and made wishes for the year to come.
Koh Phagnan
There was an idot on our boat there was who was so drunk that he had lost his laptop, was asking if he was on the train or the bus, then told his friends he was treating them all to cocaine when they got there and then for some reason was yelling that his shoe size was '47! that's UK 12! US 13!' Thanks for the update.
At one point I was sat with that numpty in front of me and next to a cat with a neck scarf that had boarded in Bangkok. You really do start to not get phased by odd things once you've been in Thailand a while.
First night in KP was a pool party. This was one of my favourite nights in hindsight. There was a pre-pool party street party by our hostel as there was every night we would find out. We picked the place to be! (Jaya's dorm- very good!) I was very snap-happy with my camera that night so lucky it was a waterproof camera!
In the morning we discovered that we'd obviously had REVERSE beer goggles on as we asked 'Man, where were all the hot guys last night?' 'Oh- in our photos apparently!' I was covered in UV paint which I still don't understand because no one else was. There were heaps of hilarious incidents that night, none of which I will mention in this blog. Anyway the night ended Kelz and Sarah walking through the jungle and Kim having to rescue me from various situtions, the last ending with me running home along the beach, chicken skewer in hand, being chased by a Thai woman and Kim in hysterics.
We donned our outfits and UV paint with a little help from the lads in our dorm and danced the night away at our first Full Moon Party. I made a pact with one of them we'd get matching tattoos. Oh the things we do when we're drunk! Luckily we didn't have enough money on us to get them done and the light of the morning bought sense with it.
Another night another beach party. And then night after that was the Jungle Party! We wore leopard print but struggled to get ready with no light as there was a power cut :( We still looked fabulous, obviously. When we got back to our dorm one of our American room mates has 'wet the bed' and another had 'soiled' himself whilst walking down the road (?!?)
The beach party on New Years Eve was honestly the best moment of my life. We'd tried to find a quiet-sh spot but that was obviously impossible surrounded by 10s of thousands of people! We were all holding hands and screaming and jumping and hugging at midnight- I felt like I wanted to cry with happiness as the fireworks lit up the sky for about 5 minutes. I called my sister who wasn't quite as happy as I was, mainly probably because of the time difference.
Surreal moment of the night was standing at the counter for a pizza slice (expected) and then the little girl who was perhaps the child of the owner woke up with leg cramp, crying and reaching out to me. I sat there a few minutes rubbing her leg and giving her hugs. Had to ask myself if that was a dream in the morning but no, it did happen!
At 5am Katie ran in to the dorm crying- she and Chloe had found a dead man in the sea. Absolutely awful end to the night. We would learn that another man was shot at 4am and a girl had died falling out of a tuktuk. RIP :(
We walked to sunset beach to get away from the mess of sunrise beach. I definitely did not fall straight through a sun chair landing on my bum with my feet in the air.... Somehow me and Kim went out that night too, and the rest is history. Koh Phagnan, you treated us well.
Nah; you treated us awfully, but we love you all the same <3
