The culinary theme continues on stepping into the airport in China- my first authentic Chinese noodles were incredible! Then at the hostel, Becca and I allocated rooms to the members of the 29 strong group, and some of us went to the Beijing night market where they were selling many foods on sticks; tarantula, shark, grasshopper, snake, cat, dog... some of the guys even tried snake and sheep testicle. Yum!
The next morning as we were about to leave Liz, a girl on our group, fell over in the lobby and cracked her head open... luckily the 2 girls in the group who are training as doctors were terrific until the ambulance arrived! We all met Aaron, our guide for the next 2 weeks, who taught us alot about Chinese on the bus.
Beijing first impressions: very misty and grubby but with lots of trees! Not really what I expected.
We visited 'First Pass under Heaven' and 'Old Dragons Head', which is where the Great Wall starts at the sea- it looks like a Dragon drinking from the water! We went for an hour 'walm-up walk' in preparation for the 2 weeks of trekking ahead! It was 5 30pm so a little cooler and the sunset was amazing!!
