Hi Everyone!
Have finally had time to update our blog now!
left Fort Myers last thursday and flew to LAX, had to get on a couple of metro trains up to hollywood and we are glad that we did it in daylight - downtown LA is as rough as! very ghetto and slummish, not the nicest place to be at all. arrived in Hollywood in one piece and stepped right onto the walk of fame - it actually stretches for a couple of miles, not just down Hollywood Boulevard but also down the street we were staying in. Got to our hotel which was fine, and we could see the Hollywood sign from just outside which was cool.
on our second day we did a celebrity tour of Hollywood - very cheesy and cliche but lots of fun! saw the homes of people like tom cruise, julia roberts, posh and becks, and also saw the gates of playboy mansion and the mansion used in Fresh Prince of Bel air. Forgot to bring suncream so both got extremely fried and are still pink from it! Took loads of photos of celebrities Stars on the walk of fame, and of the hand and footprints outside the chinese theatre. day three we went to madame tussauds (Peppy: No terroists unfortunately) and finished up with the photo opportunities of places like the Capitol Record Tower and the Kodak theatre (where the oscars is held and american idol is filmed) to be honest, Hollywood itself (the main streets) is a bit of a dump, a lot of bums, sex shops and the like - not quite as glamourous as set out to be, but beverly hills and bel air are beautiful, it was worth going just to see that! overall very busy and touristy, but lovely by night and we had a blast.
on sunday we left Hollywood and got the greyhound bus to San Diego which is really beautiful, such a stark contrast from hollywood. its right on the waterfront and has lovely buildings along with huge skysrapers - very diverse. we had a long ride to our hotel and as it was a sunday the service was limited, so we had an early night. yesterady morning we got the ferry from san diego harbour over to Coronado island - a beautiful little place which is only around a mile long. Sat on th beach for a couple of hours - aparantly its 4th best beach in USA! was gorgeous! made our way eventually back to San Diego greyhound station where we started out our overnight travel to Las Vegas.
it is 8am here and we got to Vegas about three hours ago, located our hotel but cant check in yet so we are just killing time! we are both tired, but having a blast - vegas is so groovy - but at 5am it was 80degrees so we are guessing its going to be one hot visit! the view here is amazing, its so strange to see all these extravagent hotels in middle of stark desert. going to the grand canyon on wednesday and we cant wait!!
anyway, that is what we have been getting upto - we are off to enjoy vegas now!
love you all,
Sophie and Sara xx
