Monday 12th March:
Checked out of our YHA and booked our Premier bus up to Port Macquarie, our next stop up the coast. We left this to a bit of the last minute but the coach didn't leave till 7pm so we had plenty of time to kill. We left our bags at the coach station and went for a walk and had a really cheap lunch. The rest of the day was spent at Dymocks book shop as we had nowhere else to go...a thrilling day as you can imagine! Think we got through about 3 novels each (slight exaggeration maybe but that's how it felt!)
The bus journey was 7 hours and the driver said our bags were too heavy and we need to buy another bag even though all we've bought is a can of hairspray (that has never been used) and one top! The bus driver was really stressy and said we couldn't eat or drink for the entire journey! He even told us off over the tanoy as he heard people munching. Geprge Of The Jungle 2 was being played, another classic but sadly we're not 10 years old and so it wasn't quite what we had hoped for. We met 2 nice guys on the journey who are also on their gap year and pretty much doing the same route as us up the coast so will probs see them on the way up.
We had to find the keys to our room under a surf board in the garden as it was 1am. So the torches came out and the mission impossible music came on! we evntually found our keys and a map to where we were staying, a short walk up the road. We decided to stay in a double room for the night as we were arriving in the early hours and wouldn't want to disturb people. It was really nice, basically sharing a house with 5 other people including a really nice couple from Brighton who are again, doing the same route as us.
Tuesday 13th March (Happy Birthday Aish!)
Our double room was really nice and had it's own balcony so we decided to stay another night and move room tommorrow. The weather was not very nice today you'll be pleased to hear so we decided to stay in. Soph hiked to about 10 phone boxes to try and use her phone card but had no luck so came back and we walked to the shops in the rain to get supplies. Really nice here, reminds us of centre parks. Bought a bottle of wine each to have with our dinner which was delicious, have to try it when we get home - trust us you can look forward to it!
