The Great Barrier
Whangapara, New Zealand
This trip was amazing. The small planes that we had to travel in, the beauty of the beaches, the Kindness and good-natured people that we met over there, everything was amazing!
I origionally brough mum and dad tickets to Great Barrier Island for their wedding anniversary but the night beforehand they suprised us by saying that we were going with them. The next morning we found ourselves in this small blue plane. It was cramped and bumpy ride. I had never seen my brother so scared before. He was scared the plane would tip or fall out of the sky, he was also worried that the door was going to open and I was going to fall out.
When we got to the island, we were amazed by the scenery, the beauty of the beaches. The island as a whole was absolutly exquisite! My favourite place on the island was Port FitzRoy, which was right at the top of the island. There were a few houses dotted around the area, one shop and a lot of launches visiting for the day but the place wasn't busy enough to be called a town.
Although the island doesn't have many roads on it and is nearly impossible to get lost on; we managed to get lost. When we were heading back to where we were staying at Kaitoke, we didn't notice that we went down the wrong road because we were all laughing so hard. We found ourselves at Tryphena instead of Kaitoke, which is at the bottom of the island. We drove from the top of the island, to the bottom in one day.
Overall, the trip was amazing! It have now fallen in love with travelling and plan to one day travel the world and experience and see the many things that this world has got to offer me. One day after I finish school, and university, I will travel the world. But for now, my first goal is doing a massive roadtrip with my friends all over New Zealand because I don't believe that I should go out exploring other countries before exploring the one that I came from.
