Tuesday 23rd October
We arrived to Fiji at 6am, missing a whole day already due to the time difference from Hawaii. The flight was good, had something to eat and drink for free. Unfortunately we couldn't sleep well during the flight!
We searched for the bus that would take us to the hostel. We found the cheapest and the first one came at 7am. It was very different from what we are used to. This time, it was a bus that you see alot in India, a very bumpy and small bus that local use. We did feel that we have been hit by their culture as we were getting to experience how the local operate on the bus!
At first, we weren't sure how they use the bus as we noticed people just got on and occasionally just jump off when its their stop! We didn't realise how far the hostel was as the journey took 2 hours! We weren't impressed with the beach we have seen on our journey so we were starting to regret to book the hostel.
At one point of the journey, we stopped by at the main town. We weren't sure what to do as most people got off on the bus, including the driver. We worked it out that it was the break, like a pit stop so everyone could get whatever they wanted from the shop before proceeding the journey! That shows that they are very laidback!
Eventually when we arrived to our hostel, we requested to stay for 2 nights in case we weren't happy with the hostel due to the look of the beach. We came to fiji for a proper relaxation! A nice beach is a must!
We were shown to our dorm room and again got the room to ourselves. It was very nice dorm, a clean and modern style.
The staff were very friendly too, introduced us to everyone and making sure that they are deaf aware. They even offered us breakfast which we glady took it!
We went straight to have a shower to refresh ourselves and then retired to the beach to see what it was like. Surprisely we didn't feel tired so we went for a walk on the beach. The beach wasn't that impressive at the time as the sea were very far back, the tide was very low. The hostel is basically on the beach! Hammocks were there too! It was a paradise!
At the time of booking the hostel, we didn't know much information about it so we looked around the hostel to see what they offer etc. We learnt that it was the place where ITV reality show called Love Island was based!! We started to notice the familar feature that have been seen on the show! We were impressed with everything, enough to prompt us to stay here for a whole week!
It have been pure relaxation on the hammock, well for Lisa! Daniel was keen on searching to see what was in the sea. There were plenty of fishes and hermit crabs. Plus there were 2 dogs that seems to be living on the beach. We had no idea who own them, but we had alot of fun with them!
Oh and the best part of the day was that they provides free afternoon tea!! A typical british cuppa of tea ANDDDDDDD scones!!
The hostel is practically based in middle of nowhere, no shops/restaurant nearby so we would have to buy lunch or dinner from the cafe. However its very cheap!! Its just £5 for both of us for dinner.
In the evening, there wasn't much to do but drink! We were getting tired so we had an early night at 8.30pm or so. On our walk around in the evening, we noticed alot of lizards and frogs about. Lisa isn't a fan of them and prefer to walk behind Daniel so he can scare them away before she come! :P
