Well what a treat we had in store at Mount Cook.
We left Otago which is somewhere I could have stayed a week to spend with the birds, Seals and Penguins but we had to head to MC National Park, which I remember nearly taking out of our trip, so glad we didn't!!
Leaving Otalo we called in at the Dunedin Railway station, shot a few pics and took a look inside, We then headed for the Moeraki Bolders which were quite something to pop and see if you are passing.
We then headed inland at Oamaru and stopped at Kurow for a coffee and stretch of the legs. What a treat we had buying a one scoop ice cream, my goodness the girl just kept loading the cone with delicious creamy fresh fruit ice cream! We all in fact struggled to eat our £1.50 cone, yes just £1.50!
We arrive at Twizel and pick up some food and then continue to Glentanner Park traveling
along the length of the lake was just stunning, the colour of the Glacier water is just incredible.
I will never forget this journey to Glentanner.
You also of course have the Mount Cook range of snow capped mountains. It is truly a journey one would never be fed up of taking.
We booked into Glentanner seeing lots of helicopters taking off for scenic flights, our heli hike the next day however was looking yet again doubtful. A storm was arriving that night!
We used the communal kitchen to cook a meal which is well equipped, walked down to the lake and enjoyed our wonderful environment playing games in the cabin.
