Greetings from Ao Nang again! Not a huge amount to report since I last updated but I did have the most incredible day today so I'll tell you briefly about that and then add some little humourous tit bits at the end.Hope you are all well and as usual is there is any news that I should know, please do post or email! Can I also ask someone to give me a short update on what's been happening in Hollyoaks and what happened to Louise at the wedding? It's been on my mind!! So today we did a 4 island longtail boat trip which was just amazing. A pick up truck picked us up outside our hotel at 8.45am which we happily jumped into the back of and got whisked off to the 'pier' just down the road to meet our guide and our boat. The boats can hold up to 15 people but we were quite lucky and were in a boat with 3 (we think) Dutch people (one older lady and 2 teenage girls) and an Indian couple (just married I thought). Kav and I did laugh a lot at the wife who turned up in a denim skirt just past her knees, a blouse, ankles socks and leather heeled shoes, I mean come on!! I think her husband sold her a totally different 'boat trip' as she barely smiled the entire time and got soaked head to foot on the way back! Hilarious! Anyway, after climbing up a couple of steps on a mini metal step ladder into the boat we settled down in the middle of the boat for our first trip in the Andaman Sea over to Phra Nang Cave which is one of the medium sized islands you can day visit and which has a decorative spirit house which is famous for helping fertility apparently. Taka look at the photos of 'willies' I took!! After our short look at the cave we strolled along the beach in the water (the temperature must have reached the high 90's today) we settled down for half an hour of sunbathing before returning to the boat to head to the next island - Poda Island. Poda Island is a mixture of picturesque beach and bamboo plantations and rock cliffs where there is an abundance of monkeys. When arriving at Poda Island we are warned not to get too close to the monkeys by the mountains as they are likely to steal your bag or loose belongings and disappear up the mountains or bite you. We continued on anyway in the hope to see such mischeavous creatures. We were unlucky so went to the other end of the beach to do a spot more sunbathing before returning the to boat. At this point I just want to point out that when I say "beach" I mean short strip of sand. These aren't beaches like in Cornwall or in some tropical caribbean resort, they are literally strips of sand some enough to hold 100 people, some less - needless to say they are stunning. After Poda Island we reached Chicken Island, after noticing that the wind is picking up and we are getting a bit more wet than anticipated. For those of you who know me well and know my fears and weird phobias, I hate being wet and being around wet people so all of this was a massive struggle for me today but I got through it. In fact, Kav is extremely proud of me for trying to conquer as many fears as possible - I took an 11 hour flight to Bangkok when I absolutely hate flying, being around nasty insects (the huge spider from the other night), staying in places that aren't quite top standard - you get the picture!! We just about manage to 'park' at Chicken Island, jump off the boat and get led to a tiny little restaurant and get given water, some vegetable fried rice with a fried egg and some horrifically garlicy miso type soup. After this we leave Chicken Island (getting quite wet in the process while getting back on board) and take a 2 minute trip over the exquisit Tub Island. Tub Island kind of consists of 2 islands which are joined by a small causeway which you can walk across in low tide but gets hidden by high tide. Today was in between so Kav walked over to do some snorkelling while I sun bathed on the tiniest bit of beach possible and had room for no more than 30 people. Everywhere you looked around you just saw perfect clear blue sea and other islands in the distance. That's what so amazing about these boat trips. You go so far out that you can't see land anymore yet you are surrounded by these incredible islands all around you. You feel like you literally are in the middle of the ocean in the middle of the earth. In fact, for a moment I actually forgot there was anything else out there but us on this island. After Tub Island we made our 20 minute trip back to Ao Nang, which was the wettest ride I've been on. Well, I would have got wet but my amazingly chivelrous boyfriend sat in front of me and took all the splash and ended up soaked, while I sat bone dry and smiling, and still laughing at the Indian woman behind me!! Tomorrow, more sun bathing by the pool and maybe on the beach and Thursday we are taking a speed boat to Koh Lanta, which is further south, to do some more island trips (Phi Phi etc) and see some more of Thailand. We might even go on an elephant trek!! So take care everyone, hope all is well with you, lots of love xxxxxxPS - am hoping my photo upload will work so check them out after this
