Tuesday 16 June. from Indiana through Ohio and onto Kentucky
I was up early so went for a drive, getting back in time for end of breakfast at 9:30. However, when I got back, breakfast had finished, but reception kindly got me a tray of eggs and bagels. I mentioned them finishing it early, and mentally added it to my list of moans about that hotel. It wasn't till after I'd checked out and arrived at Amish Acres that I realized I'd moved time zones, so the time was actually an hour later than I thought. So my apologies for the time related issues I reported yesterday.
I managed a few more Amish snaps today, but decided not to do the twee looking Farm tour as it looked distinctly uninteresting, and I'd suddenly lost an hour with a long drive ahead of me.
So, out with the trusty old PDA, which is my navigation device. It wouldn't turn on due to battery being too low, so I hooked it up to the car charger. It seems I've brought the wrong lead, as it won't charge in the car - but it's happily charging now in it's mains dock. I'd have been a bit lost, in more ways than one, if it packed up. Thus today was navigated using old fashioned maps with only one small error - how very Amish of me eh?
The 452 miles was fairly uninteresting, so few pics today. There was quite heavy rain for about a third of the journey, but mostly I was on Interstates which do not seem to suffer congestion as we know it (but I expect I will regret saying that!!). The hotel (Holiday Inn) gave me a nice reception for being a Platinum card holder - a hand written card from the management, a welcome pack, and just about the largest bed I've see!! As I'm suffering a runny nose, dry throat and a bit of a cough, I think caused by aircon, I'll probably get an early night - this was only ever a break in the journey, no sightseeing was planned.
