Sunday: Seven hours to Bear Lake! The Pine Pass definitely needs a Tim Horton’s, but thoughtful of the DOT to have potties all along the way. Road reconstruction all the way from Hart Lake past the summit. The washouts were crazy. Rivers, streams and ditches were very full. Needless to say the road was “bumpy” and we did lose the engine brake, but eventually we made it! Bear Lake is beautiful.
Naomi: I’m very, very, excited!
Eden: Wildlife count: 2 deer, 1 bunny, 2 bear, 1 eagle, 1 osprey, 5298 million mosquitoes.
Eli (and Willie Nelson): “On the road again, like a band of gypsies we go down the highway...”
Tim: The canopy of THE ONLY fuel station in Chetwynd, is BARELY 6 inches higher than our a/c unit.
Today we went all the way from Bear Lake to Prince George! (50 miles?) We had to make an appointment for the engine brakes to be fixed, which won’t be until tomorrow. However, we explored a city we have only ever driven through, and were given an amusing amount of travel guides and maps from BCAA. We are snug in our little house at the BEE LAZEE RV park, and the kids are still swimming in the outdoor pool – I can hear them!
Tomorrow we should have our first “day of rest” as we will stay put until the truck is fixed. That means we can do laundry, wash the trailer (we met with quite a bit of mud), and swim some more! I might even get to start a novel! I haven’t read anything better than a text book since September of 2009! Now the kids are dripping at the door...
