hi all!
Here is what i have been up to the past few days.........
I left christchurch on the 14th on the kiwi experience bus. Managed to forget my phone in the hostel so the driver drove back for it -we were only just out of the city so it wasn't too bad. It took us until midday to get to kai koura where we stayed for the night. Our hostel was like a little shack/house. i shared a room with a japanese, german, and australian girl. The australian girl and i went whale watching which was good. Everyone on the catamaran was puking up with motion sickness. It was like being on the waltsers for 3 hours!! That poxy roxette song 'come join the joy ride' popped back into my head again- it seems that evertime i get on a boat it just appears in my brain! Anyway, we saw three male sperm whales. they were humungus!!
Got home and this big group of canadian pensioners were having a big party. Their food looked amazing. We were all staring at them eat! I had puky looking tinned soup for tea, yum!
The next morning the whole room was awoken by the german girl and her noisy plastic bag disorder! I then went to get a shower and I dont know what the boys had been doing in there, but it stank really bad and there was toilet paper everywhere!. The japanese girl on the top bunk also stood on my hair instead of the bunk bed step, ah the joy of bunkbeds! We stopped off on our trip to see some furry seals. They looked really huggable but apparently stink to the high heavens so we kept our distance!
We then stopped at the ferry to drop people off and to pick up a whole host of new people. I got chatting to a girl called sarah from cardiff and basically hung around with her all day. We stopped off at a lake and went swimming, bit chilly. On the way to the hostel, the bus luggage compartment burst open and we had to get out and rescue 8 bags from the road. My bag was one of them (would you expect anything else) and my shampoo bottle split open and burst all over my bag - argh!!!!
Got to the hostel in nelson (which is one of the nicest hostels i've stayed in) and unpacked. sarah and i climbed a massive hill to get to the centre point of new zealand. it was really tough work but the view was amazing. Got back and had tea and a glass of wine - but managed to tip the glass and spilled the wine everwhere! last night me and sarah plus a couple from the UK went out for a wee while. We played some pool and then had some drinks before fininshing the night in a cocktail bar. (this guy had given us a voucher for a free cocktail).
Today I went to Able tasmin national park with some of my group. We got a water taxi to some beaches and then headed back. It was lovely there. Tonight i'll be having a quiet one - tea will consist of a cup a soup and a cheese slice roll and a few grapes.
Tomorrow i am going to chill out at the beach if it's nice. I move on the day after to the west coast.
I hope everyone at home is good. glad to hear aunt jan is doing better. I'll check out neil's webspace now!
See ya
