Hi all! I have updated the past few days and added some pictures (see unknown folder and new zealand folders)
What an exciting day I've had!!!! It started off in a bad way as everyone was a bit tired after the party. Alot of the guys still had eye make-up on and ra ra skirts! We went to a bushman's centre in pukekura. We watched a dvd about the bushmen killing lots of deer and dragging the carcasses off the hillside by helecopter. It was such a weird and yucky thing to watch and it had a weird 80's rock theme tune! After that we fed this big pig - the owner said the pig would be aggressive but I think he was just trying to get everyone scared so they would settle down. The centre sold possum pie in the cafe but I chose not to ingulge - yuck!
at about 2pm we arrived in franz josef which is a tiny town next to a big glacier and Mount Cook. Me and three guys from my group went for a spot of sky diving over the glaciers this afternoon and i have to say....IT WAS THE BEST THING I HAVE EVER DONE!!!!! 12,000 feet of pure crazyness!
First of all we got all dressed up in our sexy (ahem!) outfits and got a small briefing on what was going to happen before being squeezed into a tiny plane. We flew over the glacier and the mountains for a bit which was brilliant - except rather uncomfortable as i was sitting in between my diving buddys legs and couldn't move much. He then said 'Okay its time to have your fun laura' (I was the first to dive) he then opened the door and i had to hang my legs under the plane stairs and curve myself like a banana (?) until he flung us off the plane!!! It was the best feeling in the world. I cant really describe it. It wasnt scary as such just a really big experience. We were in free fall for about 50 seconds and then glided down for 5minutes doing some spins and he let me steer. We were allowed to take pictures on the way down which was cool. I haven't been able to stop smiling all day!!!
Tonight I have been tring to get some food cooked in the kitchen but there are over 100 people trying to cook in the one kitchen at the same time so its a bit hectic. Tomorrow i am having a chill day. I'll probably go up to the glacier for a wee look but thats about it - no more spending for me!
A very happy smithers over and out!
