Boxing day 26th December and 27th December
Spent these 2 days seeing Auckland.
Went on a harbour cruise which took in all the sights of the city, the docks and the bridge as well as seeign from a distance the other islands within the bay.
Then decided to go to the Auckland War Museum whihc was brilliant. Spent several hours in there learning about all of New Zealands history, especially the Maouri side and also their input into WW1 and WW2.
The following day, I took a fery to Devonport, across from Auckland city and walked around this old little place which was quite interesting.
Int he afternoon I decided to do the "Coast to Coast" walk...all 16kms of it. Was a beautiful day and was really a great walk as Auckland is 30% parkland and so the walk went all around the parks, seeing historic buildings and sites and also up the 2 hills which are dead volcanoes for some great views of the city.
In my Final evening in Auckland, which was on the 29th when I got back from the Bay of Islands I went up the Sky City Tower...think it was about 65 stories high and the highest building in NZ ans Aus. Views as the sun went down were truly fantastic...or Awesome as the Kiwis would say!
A perfect finish to my near 3 weeks in New Zealand. The place has been fantastic, the people are so freindly and the scenery simply breathtaking..... onto Hong Kong for a few days now....
