Another bright and sunny morning on the African continent greeted us both this morning! We awoke early again and decided to skip eggs today and just have toast for brekkies! We showered and got our bags ready and headed off in Karen to Mossel Bay and the beach! Woop! We set off and passed the local police training college where Clare was looking for a man in uniform to tickle her fancy, unfortunatley, there were none around this morning and so we continued down the old mountain pass to the seaside. The road we took was long and we soon began to realise we were running a little low on fuel...this meant Emily had to try and save what they had and so free wheeled down the mountain from there on in! As petrol stations are pretty few and far between on the country roads, we were getting a little anxious until we came to a small village and spied a garage. It was that small, we drove right past it, but a quick u'ey and we were able to swing Karen back to fill her up. The guy came to fill up the car and Clare and Emily enjoyed watching the children playing at the side of the garage. Pretty soon Karen had a full belly and off we trollied to the coast.
We arrived near Mossel Bay and the huge industrial side of the town, we decided to find the beach and get ourselves a little tan in the morning before heading back to the shops we had seen en route. We found a little car park and headed off to the beach where we got ourselves comfy for the cooking. The beach was beautiful and Emily even saw some Zebra's! Emily went off to find some drinks and followed signs for a convenience store which turned out to be a clothes shop while Clare carried on baking! When she came back, Clare went for a quick dip in the sea but soon changed her mind when a large jellyfish washed up on the sand. We both enjoyed watching the world go by and taking pikkies until Emily got sand in her camera from the wind blowing it and it stopped working! At 1pm, we both decided we were getting kind of sore and decided to leave the beach and head off to the shopping centre. In the shopping centre, we found lots of fabulous shops and Emily purchased a rather delightful duvet to go in her new room! Clare thought this was hilarious and so with the pennies spent, we headed off for some food. We found a nice little bakery and bought a wrap and croissant for starters but were taken very much by the puddings on offer and so followed this up with ginger cookies and cheesecake!
Following this we decided we were slightly too burnt to go back to the beach so headed off into another part of town, we got to a beach as it began to cool and so we sat on the beach watching a group of people do a triathalon! We were exhausted just watching them but we soon began to get a little chilly and so headed in Karen to find a nice bar to sit before we went for supper. We pulled up in town and found a quiet pool bar run by a guy named Grant. Grant told us about his time in England playing pool in Chorley and Blackpool. He gave us some drinks and we chatted for a while before he directed us to a nice fish restaurant near the lighthouse. Off we went to the lighthouse and found the place we had been told about. We sat down and laughed about each others sunburn before tucking into some delish grub! Pretty soon we were stuffed to the brim and so ran back to the car coz it was then freezing! We put the heating on in Karen as we headed off back on the coast road to home!
