S&L Quest
Singapore is a mad city so full of people and shops there are 100's of shopping malls either sides of the road each about 10 stories high. The only problem with this is they all sell exactly the same junk. It was so depressing, we were almost about to give up on singapores impressive 'must see' shopping until after about 2 hours of walking around we stumbles accross the coolest shopping mall ever!! There was nundreds of alternative clothing shops all selling 'one offs'. I soo wish i had loads of money because we could have shopped till we dropped here. But it was well expensive and carrying around designer clothes in your rucksack isnt so practical.
In the night we took a walk to the 'boat key', This was a long road of restaurants all besides the river with an amazing view of the singapore skyline. The singapore delicacy is chilly crab - i tried to persuade sam to try it was you could see all the crabs sat in the tub right next to you and we felt so sorry for them. Sam even went over and stroked one so that nobody would want to eat it.
After dinner we took a walk to one of singapores 5 * hotels - called The fullerton. This was so impressive, one of the best hotels i think ive ever seen. We stood out like sore thumbs! In the lobby they had a big pool of water with gigantic 'human friendly' koi karp (they were disgusting!) People, including sam, were putting there hands in the water and they were literally sucking their fingers! Sam offered me 100 pounds to do the same, and i really did try but i couldnt. I did however manage to stand right next to tem without freaking out too much ...small steps.
We then got a taxi to another 5 * hotel called The Swissotel. This was one of the tallest buildings in singapore - 74 stories to be precise! On the 70th floor they had a bar which supposedly had one of the most amazing views of the city. However, they wouldnt let us up there because we had flip flops on and we wernt adhearing to the hotels dresscode..how rude!
Today we went to the cinema to kill some time before our flight and went to see 'Over the hedge' - from the makers of Madagascar and shrek. It was so good, jess - you should deinately take niamh to see this film!
Our flight was in the evening so we had some time to check out the airport before we left - They had a mac store and it was so cheap. I wanted to buy everything in site, but thankfully sam stopped me. We both covered ourselves in expensive sents, which made such a nice change from the usual traveller smell we've both become so used to.
Hope you enjoy the pics!
Love
