Hello Fellow Edventure-ers,
Today is the beginning of day two in Japan.
Day 1:Yesterday when Carson and I got through customs [about 12 noon] Chris was waiting for us and we got in a train [subway prettymuch, which I LOVE to ride] and left Yokohama for Tokyo. We got to the hotel which is in the Shiodome Station on the JR line downtown. It is called the Park Hotel Tokyo and it starts on the 25th floor of the Japanese Media Tower Building. We put our junk down in the room and got on another train and went to Shibuya, the downtown anime fashion district area. It was awesome and there were stores and shoes everywhere, and the shoes are relatively inexpensive so you know what that means. We walked all over the place [and by all over the place I mean 3 blocks that we kept circling because it was too much all to take in at once] and shopped and ate and were confused and entertained. We went shopping for a while and I ended up by the end of the night with a skirt, hoodie, tshirt, strawberries, and 3 pairs of shoes and Carson got a really cool purse / tote bag which I don't think I am jealous of but haven't decided on yet. [* fun fact: when I woke up it was Bobby & I's 6 monthaversarry for me, but not for him because in SC it was still yesterday. Technically I have been dating my boyfriend longer than he has been dating me]
We went to dinner where we did because the place had plastic food in the window that we could see and point to. We walked inside and it was like a small Yokoso where they cook in front of you which was exciting because I love those. Once we sat down they brought us menus and I was confused as to where the chef was going to stand to cook because it was very cramped. That was when we realized we were about to be making our own dinner in Japan. And we did. Carson and I cooked two types of noodles, pork, chicken, and bean sprouts and we cooked it up right! We are amazing cooks. Then we needed ice cream, obviously, so we went and found a place that had weird flavours. We got a waffle bowl with Chocolate [for safety], Banana Suzanna, Ube, and salty something that I can't remember but it was good. Then we walked around more and found a HUGE manga / anime store underground like 5 floors. I got some comic books for the kids' classes and some for my friends [Chris got some Pokémon cards for The Giz]. We then realized we needed more dessert when we walked by more plastic food that looked amazing. We got strawberry shortcake with weird sprinkles that looked like earrings, crepes with fruit and stuff in them, and a strawberry parfait. Then we took the train back to the hotel, where I got hungry again. Carson and I ordered more noodles, but this time we just couldnt do it. They were sitting in fish brother topped with fish flakes [that smelled almost as bad as they tasted]. We settles for baked apple and chocolate ice cream, which as you would assume, was much tastier than fish flakes.
I was thrilled about the free internet so I didn't go to bed until 1:30AM, just in time to realize that we had to be up at 5AM to get to the fish market on time. Today [10 Feb.] Carson and I slowly arose at 5AM and took a cold trek with Chris down to the world's biggest fish market. It was crazy, some of the yellow fin tuna were bigger than me for sure. It is only 7AM now; we just threw Carson in a cab to get back to the ship in time for her FDP with Lydia. Chris and I are going to go get breakfast in order to cherish the free things, especially in Japan [is it obvious that I am in college?]. From there you never know what we may do… Because we have no clue.
I have been trying to upload photos onto the blog but for some reason they are not going through; however, all of my trip [except for the first day because the album is too big] is on Facebook on my profile waiting to be viewed by the world!
