Hello peoples, Sorry but i cant put any photos up yet coz the chicks laptop im using wont accept my camera cord thingy. I was going to wait but i have to tell you all about my 1st night working behind a bar ha ha.
After a few days of spending to much money and drinking to much i finally got to see what it was like to be on the other side of the bar and see how us drunken idiots go on hehe.
I wasnt allowed to wear my trade mark black thongs i usually wore to work, so had to get use to closed black shoes :(
At the start of my shift i was shown how to use the till and shown any alcohol i didnt know (wasnt much i didnt). About an hour later im at the bar by myself and a group of guys walk in and ask for beers.....never poured 1 in my life so i was a bit worried so tried to make small talk, hoping someone might come to back me up...but no 1 did. They looked just as worried when the whole pint glass was full of head. When i asked how you pour a beer i was told its easy u just know how to do it when u have 2....righto!
Few hours later it was so busy and the music was so loud and considering i am struggling with the pommies accent i was not looking forward to the rest of the night. I had a permanent translator by my side to take the order and when they werent there i stuffed up alot. 1 guy i thought was saying " a pint of vodka" and i said "no your not allowed that" 3 attempts i find out he was asking for a pint of fosters.
Considering i was taking 1/2 hour per customer i still managed to get tips from people, i dont know if they were just drunk or felt sorry for me.
There was a promo night on 2 and i couldnt remember if all drinks were 1 or 2 shots so i just altered it each time i made a drink.
And lots of people asked for certain drinks i didnt know of so i just "suggested" another drink in the hope they were to drunk to care.
Today/Tonight i had my second shift and it was alot better. Because the start of my shift was in the day i could hear better and got the hang of it alot better, so when i came on for my night shift i only needed my translator twice - wooo hoooo!!!!
The blue sky came out today and it was nice to have shorts and top on and feel a little sun, i even went for a walk the sarvo and didnt get lost!
I will try another laptop tomorrow because i really want to put photos on here of Bangkok, Nottingham and my new little home. Best photos are off the church i went to for a cocktail!!!! Loved it, it was an old church they turned into a bar/restaurant and i must admit it does feel weird sitting on a alter in a church drinkin a cocktail, but was pretty cool.
Im not the most adventurous person at the moment so hope my stories dont put you to sleep......
Hugs and Kisses,
Skye x
