Bula!!!!!
So, Fiji eh! What can I say? Fiji is LUSH!
Although it started off a little dodgy for me!
I landed to clouds, rain, and an empty resort. Went into town, spoke to a local shop owner, only decided to have a look in there didn't I. School boy. Fijians are the nicest people i've ever met! Next minute however i'm penned in at the back of his shop with another chunky Fuijian bloke blocking me in. We sit on a mat and drink 'Kava'. Some dried root drink they all love. It's a mild narcotic. I didn't know much about it, but there's me, in Fiji for about 3 hours, penned in, drinking this muddy milk coloured drug stuff. I tried to ship out several times, but the 'drinking ceremony' hadn't finished yet, until i sank the rest! so basically, they were just trying to rip me off as a tourist and wanted me to buy all their s*** and send it home. i escaped with nothing but a full bladder.
Hit the gorgeous Yasawa Islands. They are fit! Endured a 5 hour boat journey to my first one. Sporting a vest and no suncream for the duration of the journey, became my downfall. I acquired the fittest vest marks, and my shoulders got burnt AS! I never burn! and I certainly dont peel. I peel also! So I'm not looking too hot atm!
I've met various of quality people. some from around the corner back home, to uni. as well as pleny of other backpackers!
I had the time of my life in Fiji, and wouldn't wanna be anywhere else when I'm snorking through the coral reefs, or kicking back in a hammock or doing the Bula dance in front of the rest of the resort.
My second island was more quiet. they cut the electricity off at half 11 which was s*** at times, but relaxing. and my final island was next to where they filmed 'Celebrity Love Island'. But this one took about 4 minutes to walk around!! Still, just as beautiful as the last!
Anyhow, my journey through NZ begins soon, which only excites me.
So goodbye for now people. x
