Left the house about 6am for Dad to give me a lift to Victoria Station to catch a train to Gatwick (but not the overpriced Express seeing as it takes just as long for 6 times the price ;)) and realised that it was a real possibility that I would be able to stand outside Wicked on 2 continents within one day so took a photo of Wicked London just incase I had the will to achieve this ;) Anyways got on the train, got to Gatwick, checked in with very little problem and was safely through customs etc within about 25 mins, pretty impressive really. and so I ended up wandering about the airport enjoying the stores and a well needed cup of coffee for a couple of hours until my flight at 10:30am.
Turns out the flight that I was on was a tiny airplane, with just 6 seats with an isle between 3 and 4 which was nice, especially as I was flying alone and so I had a nice couple sitting next to be and didnt have to be fazed by the hugeness of the plane as well as the fact that I was about to spend 8 hours in the sky! The flight was pretty good really, the TV Screen thing was pick your own stuff and the food was good, although after getting lunch the cabin crew all vanished and got really miffed at me when I asked them for a drink about 4 hours into the flight - which I thought was a perfectly reasonable thing to need, but other than that all was good and looking out the window and seeing Canada and taking pictures from my window was pretty cool really. The landing part however was not so cool but I survived and was very happy to have my feet back on land. When we got out of the plane I had to wait aaages to get through immigration due to being put behind the worlds slowest guys desk, seriously we were going through 1 to the other guys 7 on our desk. Eventually I got through just in time to see my suitcase appear on the conveyor thing so ran and grabbed that and then headed off to the minibus pick up point. Got met by a lovely guy who helped me to the minibus and as I stepped out of the airport I was greeted with amazing sunshine and heat - it was wonderful, especially after coming from a dreary rainy London :D
After the ride to my hostel, via a ship to drop off everyone else who was in the minibus with me, I had the fun task of spending about an hour and a half waiting to be able to check into the hostel as the person doing check in was alone and as slow as hell, seriously, theres 2 computer points at the reception desk, and the hostels fully booked, is it to much to put 2 people there speeding up the task, and then because I was going to be in a different room from Tues night when Kez arrived I asked if I would need to spend all afternoon queuing the next day I was told I would, which I thought was a bit stupid as they could just tell me to come see them again later in the day to pick up the key as they already had all my information and I was willing to pay the full amount of my stay at that point. Pft!
Anyways, after finally checking in and dragging my stuff 3 floors up horrible small staircases I decided to go for a short walk to find something edible and so wandered about a little, checking out where a few thing were, like the theatres that I wanted to visit were, until coming back to my room and finally crashing out about 8pm NYC time after being up for at least 20 hours although my sleep was not all that fantastic as I was convinced that I was going to fall out of the top bunk that I was on as there was nothing on the sides to stop it and the bed scared the life out of me when I tried climbing onto it.
Oh yeah and I did stand outside Wicked on 2 continents, photos to follow ;)
