Hi there. Just a quick post to describe the bus journey from hell from yesterday. The trip was only 12 hours (tiny compared with a lot of others) from Salta in Argentina to San Pedro in Northern Chile. Nobody had warned me about this trip, but I probably should have figured it out for myself. To get to San Pedro you have to drive over the northern Andes which, unlike further south, is a wide flat desert. After about an hour the bus started going up.........a...

Hola. Firstly, congratulations to the Ironman NZ finishers with Wal (10:03, 66th overall), Gedi (11:51, 429th overall & 51st female overall!), & Ritchie (10:30, 133rd overall). It's great to hear I've already got 2 Amigo's to join me for Oz in 2005 too (no backing out now fellas). Congratulations also (a little belated I know) to Ritchie and Naisy with young 'Keith' (for now) on the way. I've just finished a five day hike around the Torres Del Paine...

After a week on a tropical island I'm now surrounded by mountains, glaciers and snow and it's a hell of a lot colder too. I'm heading to Puerto Natales tomorrow and hopefully should start the Torres Del Paine trek on Monday (which will take about 5 -7 days depending where I go). Have a good 'working' week everyone.

The major attraction is obviously the Moai (big rock carvings) but there is a lot more to the island. The local community (almost 4,000) are still very set in their traditional ways. They all still speak Rapa Nui (as well as Spanish) and still passionately maintain local customs. The accommodation on the...
Hola people. I'm now on the remotest island community on earth (4,000km from anywhere). Internet is hopelessly slow and expensive here, so I'll give you all the details when I get back to the mainland next week. As I type this Wal, Ged and Ritchie will be putting on their wetsuits almost ready to start Ironman NZ. Tear it up guys!! Chao.
