Hey Everyone!!!
Hope you are all well. It has been a few weeks since we last emailed from melbourne so we thought we would update you.
The AFL game and Neighbours night definitely lived up to our expectations. We came 4th out of 41 in the neighbours quiz (Thanks Kat for your help, we phoned her so she could google the answers!) and met lots of the stars - I'm sure you have seen the photos! The big Karl kennedy is officially the biggest sleeze/ledgend ever! In Melbourne we also went on a day trip to phillip island where at sunset hundreds of miniture penguins come waddling across the beach to their burrows...so cute. On route we stopped to do some wine tasting, we all agreed that our goon (4 litre boxes of wine for 4 pounds) is much nicer - obviously got cheap taste! Overall absolutely loved melbourne, sad to leave but next stop Sydney.
Loved it!! So much to see. One highlight was the bridge climb which we did at night. Had a awesome group including a local who was celebrating her 50th b-day and couldn't keep her hands off Pete! it was also Vicky's birthday and we organised a surprise dinner cruise around the harbour. We made her walk through the streets of Sydney blindfolded until we got on board the boat where we enjoyed the luxury of an all you can eat seafood buffet and all you can drinks. Champagne and seafood, the usual backpacker stuff!!! Also went to the beaches, an ice bar and the blue mountains...you might be wondering about the strange costume photos on the blog, dont really know how we ended up doing that but it was hilarious!!
Next we stopped at Coffs harbour. We arrived at 5am and attempted the half hour walk to the hostel, this would have been ok if we were normal backpackers but we seem to have accumulated quite a lot of luggage...so much so that we get mocked by all the other travellers! ...luckily the hostel bus drove past otherwise we would never have made it! Unfortunately we didn't get to see Coffs main attraction , the giant banana, but it was a really nice place and we just chilled for afew days befrore heading on up to Byron bay. The boys loved Coffs so decided to stay longer....its now girls on tour all the way up to Cairns!!!!
Byron Bay was so awesome and we had a lot of laughs. Spent a lot of our time hanging with 2 pretty much pro durfers from NZ. they were the coolest people we have ever met and spend their whole lives just chasing the big swells! Sweet as!! They were so nice , teaching us to surf and letting us stay at their house for free! Had some wicked nights out, a bar called cheeky monkeys was just like being back in turkey, dancing on tables all night.
We are now in brisbane, its pretty dull! As there isn't alot to do we ended up spending a lot of money shopping. Bad news for the bank balance and the increasing amount of luggage. look forward to moving to noosa tomorrow where we have rented an apartment for 5 days. Will be so nice to have our own space...such a contrast to the 30 bed dorm we are staying in at the moment.
Thats pretty much it so far. Love
Sarah and Jen xxxxx
