I left Nungwi behind and came to Mchanga beach. Here it is was extremely quiet and so peaceful. The water isn't quite as clear but it is virtually secluded with very few people around. When I first I genuinely thought I was the only person staying here!
The manager is from Rome which I was not expecting, but is incredibly lovely and as I am a "lonely" traveller (his words) he is really keen to let me know that him and his family are there for me. He has given me a gigantic room which essentially sleeps 4 and I'm not going to lie, I am loving spreading my stuff out everywhere!
I am completely in my own bubble and feel so relaxed that I literally never want to leave. It is so cathartic to spend all day just listening to the waves crashing.
Mchanga is Swahili for sand and this whole place is built on the sand. The idea is that you do not have to wear shoes as everything is sand and that is exactly how it is. The only downside is that sand is everywhere!
Randomly whilst I was having a dip in a pool, I heard a coconut drop and a guy had climbed a tree and was chopping coconuts down. It was really interesting (and slightly scary) how he climbed up and down. He actually had rope he had tied to both feet.
The WiFi here is really good so I have managed to catch up on some tv and listening to songs on YouTube :-)
One of the funniest things at this hotel is for dinner they do not just set a table for 1 for me but also remove the extra chair, so my table has 1 chair and 1 set of cutlery! Just really making it clear I am a lonely traveller lols
What I have learnt in Mchanga:
* Hot chocolate for breakfast is considered a norm.
* Laundry is more expensive that a dry cleaner in the UK.
* Every meals takes at least 45 minutes to arrive...even a sandwich.
* 100% relaxation is expected :-)
