HANOI
Finally got to Hanoi after a long 17 hour trip, we got to the airport decided to get a taxi into the city, they said it would be 16 USD, which was fine. We just jumped in, and after about 10 minutes the taxi driver put a man onto the phone who spoke English, he asked what hotel we were going to, so he could tell the driver. We thought it seemed a bit odd! but we carried on, once we got into Hanoi we were told our hotel was closed and we had been moved to another one, they said you have all paid so just gave us the keys and we went up!....
Marcus was half asleep and seemed to go with it, me being me on the other hand said no this strange so we left and handed in the key!! and yes it turned out to be a huge con!! so don't trust the local taxi drivers in VITETNAM!! So as you can imagine we were very much on guard with our belongings and trusting of the local people. as nice as they are, watch them!! Haha. Hanoi is a crazy place, I'm quite surprised we have not been run over yet, the roads are just manic with people and motor bikes mind you they don't go past 5mp!. Its definitely an experience iv never been anywhere like it.
On our last night we went on a night out with Lacie and Joe who we met on a trip!..had dinner then went out for some drinks, managed to get into a bar lock in, unknowingly too us it is illegal to serve and have people in the bars past 11 in Hanoi. The next several hours were spent with the bar staff and two Texans, whispering and laughing whilst police officers roamed outside banging on bars shutters to see if anyone was inside!. The backpackers on the next table were taking drugs in the toilet which added to the dodgyness of the whole situation, it was an unusal interesting night to say the least.
