Not a good start to the day, as the bus to the ferry was arranged for 7:30 am, it turned up at around 10am. Minibus was rammed and it took us 5 hrs to be dropped off an hour from ferry port (surattani) where we had to wait 2 hrs for another minibus to drive over an hour to the port.
The crossing was stunning as it was sunset and only took just under two hours. We were told to pre book taxi as it was expensive on Samui side wich we did 600 baht for two people. After arriving on Samui island, surprise surprise no taxi, so yet another rip off .
After many arguments we got a tuk tuk for only 200 baht for two. Theres one thing I've learnt here , just pay for your ticket and when they try sell you pre booked transfers Don't buy!!!!!!.Just walk 5 mins from port or bus station and the cost is next to nothing.
All in all the journey should have took 7 hrs yet it took us 12. Weve found lovely hotel (p .chaweng. 650 baht =£6 a night each .We have booked another two nights to explore the island. Its a lot quieter here but stunning scenery. Spent the day at the beach today with a few beers then realised I'd lost my bank card !!!!!!!.
Been looking for some trips today but they are so expensive .Gonna see if we can hire a driver for the day wich will hopefully be lot cheaper. It's weird because everything closes around 11 pm here. Had a fab meal tonight about 6 dishes all for £7. Think we gonna spend next 3 weeks going from beach to beach on different islands. We leave here tomorrow as we've booked to go to Krabi then on to Phi Phi island.
Weve been told it will take 5 hrs and we get picked up at 6:30 am lol we will see lol .
Thai spicy pork cooked fresh from a woman in the street was lovely with loads of different fresh veg(apparently takes the burn out of the chillies) and sticky rice £1,Am really gonna miss the Thai food but am getting some good ideas to cook when I'm home .
