We have spent the last few days in Buenos Aires definately living it up large! The clubs there are wicked!!!
We had some problems getting there though!
We had a very (VERY!!) early flight in the morning and once we got to the airport we were told it was cancelled (WHAT?!) and then told actually it was an hour early and so now we were running late! Plus we were told we were overwieght (well i was overweight as i have two bags now) and so that held us up even longer. Eventually i had to pay a fee (not happy bout that!) but we got on the plane and were on our way...only to be told at the other end that we won't be getting our bags as the workers were on strike and if we left all the reciept numbers they would send our luggage to the hostel..i'd lost one of my reciepts! s***!
But we were advised to wait for a while by this Spanish guy and it's a good job we did as eventually our bags came out and we could get a taxi to B.A Stop, our hostel.
Our hostel was quite cool, it had a really laid back atmosphere and a great common area with a big TV (which came in handy on the hangover days that ensued!). We went off to an all you can eat buffet and then had a nap before going to Limehouse to meet Gary and Chris (who we had met in Chilli's hostel)Â and two kiwi guys they had met (James and Dylan) and a couple of girls they'd met. We had a few drinks in DeBar (which became our local) and then went to a club called Mint' where we danced the night away and i somehow broke my camera so i'm afraid there prob won't be any more photo's now unless i get a chance to buy a new one. Oops!
The next day-once we had dragged ourselves out of bed- we went to a big shopping mall (not as cheap as i was hoping) and to TGI fridays for lunch. Again we had another nap (we're jus getting into the siesta way of life- a neccessity when u don't even go to a club until 2am and home until 7!) and after huge debate decided to go out again. So glad we did though as i think that has been my favourite night out yet!! We met up with the boys again and after DeBar went to an immence club called Opera Bay. It was HUGE!!!!! It had lots of rooms with different music in each..a swimming pool! It was amazing and we litterally danced the night away! Anne and Steph were whisked away by some locals who were doing amazing salsa dancing with them while i was being swung round by Dylan (hope i didn't step on his toes too much!).
On Sunday we had a lazy day. Myself, Steph and Nat ordered in whilst the other girls just went to the restaurent next door and we just watched DVD's with the boys.
On Monday we went shopping again and then went to a posh restaurent for dinner. Rose and I shared Paella which was delicious! Its soo great how cheap the meals are here too, esp as u get such nice meals, bread, entree's- the lot! That night we popped down to Debar for a supposedly one goodbye drink for Gary but somehow ended up staying there until 5 in the morning! oops again!
On tuesday Faye and i went for lunch together in a really nice brassery and had a lovely meal and then went for a little meander around while the other girls ordered in. We went to a Tango show and dinner that night. It was really good and i did enjoy it as the dancing was awesome but i do think we were a little ripped off. We were supposed to meet the boys after but they weren't in the bar when we got there so we decided to leave it and get an early night instead.. it didn't work out that way! 30 mins later-once i was all tucked up in bed-no make up, contact lenses out, pj's on- the boys turned up. I'm still not sure how they managed it but somehow they mannaged to rustle us all up and get us out! Pretty impressive really! So another night out for us then- but it was worth a new pair of contacts as i had another great night with lots of dancing involved...and redbull!
On Wednesday we got up and went to Cementerio de la Recoleta where generations of Argentina's elite rest in ordinate splendor! It was a pretty spectacular graveyard and we followed the crowds and found Eva Perons grave. We had a quick look a the pink palace (where Eva Peron did her speechs- or as Faye said where she sang 'don't cry for me Argentina'- her life wasn't actually a musical Faye-bags!!) and then went back to our hostel to wait for our taxi's to the bus station.
Our taxi's were VERY VERY VERY late and meant that we missed our bus...DISASTER! luckily we got whisked into two taxi's (who ripped us off big time but we had no choice) to chase after the bus who we managed to catch up with at the next stop- thank god! The bus was amazing- like 1st class seats on a plane are- so we were able to sleep for the overnight trip and arive in Iguazu Falls reasonable awake!
