South Namibia
Augrabies is just on the South African/ namibian border and where we started our camping trip! Its absolutely amazing, It's a huge waterfall! Our stay was made by the resident dussie family who kept us entertained, beats eastender/ Isidingo anyday…
The last week has been spend mostly driving and I don't mean leisurely drives along the coast, I mean hard core driving for hours and hours along dirt roads that are mainly sharp stone. Its all part of the adventure! We have stayed in some lovely camp sites, seen many buck and other animals randomly on the road, springbok, kudu (had some kudu steak was yum), zebra, fox, hares….. etc… Have also seen lost and lots of Germans. It seems its quite big for them to come over and rent a 4 x 4 and camp round Namibia.
Apparently the thing to do when you come to Namibia is to climb the highest sand dunes in the world at dawn, so we did this. Was actually hysterical as they only open the gates just before dawn and then all these campers, 4 x 4s, bakkies (and the one silly English family in a Nissan micra haha) race down the road towards the dunes to climb them first, its like something out of wacky races. Then you get 50 m up a dune and you realise this is flippin hard!!! I have to admit though, once you are up there its amazing and sooo beautiful.
We are in Windhoek sorting out a few bits and pieces (including two tyre punctures, damn those sharps stones!!). Then we are going up to the Etosha pans to find more animals. I am determined to see a meerkat! Simples

Joy Just catching up with you now - sounds wonderful so far. Nice to READ about running up sand dunes ha ha! All's well here in Cape Town, just terribly hot. The tortoises have gone to the farm, so it's just me and the guinea fowls now. Take care you two and drive safely. Look forward to hearing about Etosha.
