Many apologies again for the ever growing gap in the Blog entries, we shall try to fill you in on the past couple of weeks as much as possible. We survived Bundaberg and the hostel's poor excuse for a bed, the Bundaberg Rum Distillery was good to walk around however Siobhan ended up consuming more than her fair share of the stuff (with particular fondness to Bundaberg Liquor). We got the bus out of the town on Thursday for a short journey to Hervey Bay prior to our Fraser Island trip.
We had a quick briefing for the tour that night (along with a massive bowl of pasta) and were informed we had to be up and ready for 6.45am the following morning! We did a quick supermarket sweep (after being directed in the complete opposite direction) for the weekends food and beverages (acting like survivors going into the wild) and then set a disgraceful alarm for the morning. We packed our jeeps and Kate displayed some impressive reversing skills onto the ferry which took us over to the Island.
Stopped at a place known as Lake Wabbi, walked for a while and got to these literally stunning sand blows (see pictures to follow). It was something out of a dream, the sand dropping down into a green lake at the bottom. We visited quite a few gorgeous places over the weekend including Eli Creek (which we stylishly swam down), a Shipwreck from 1935 which they couldn't be afford/be bothered to remove, the Fairy Tree and several lakes. We camped in a six birth tent with our island group- we were so glad to have ended up with a really nice group of girls who deffo played a big part in making this our best weekend yet!!! (lots of goon and banter involved). We also had a three wheel moment when we were casually stuck in mud, our tour guide was slightly alarmed and wished he had captured the manoeuvre on video when we came CLOSE TO DEATH and the vehicle nearly became horizontal (adrenaline rush of the weekend).
After a top weekend we left Hervey Bay on the Tuesday and caught a flight to Sydney (our new favourite city in Australia). We spent four nights in a pretty central hostel (with our personal plasma TV in dorm) and saw soooooo many sites and probably walked further than we've walked over the past month put together. Went up the Sydney Tower, Aquarium and Wildlife World along with a trip to Manly Beach for the best ice creams ever (midnight cookies- cookie dough but with chocolate ice cream instead) and another aquarium.
We were pretty glad that everybody's winter weather predictions were incorrect- the sun was lovely- especially at sunset coming back from Manly on the Ferry. Got some nice photos of harbour bridge and the opera house. We also ate soooo much Chinese in Sydney (we stayed right next to China Town). We timed our Sydney visit appropriately because on last Saturday's departure day the weather was awful and we have some classic photos infront of the opera house in waterproofs (cringe). Sydney was awesome and we could have definitely stayed longer.
After a casual delay at the Airport, we finally caught our Qantas flight to a very sunny and HOT Singapore. We're currently staying at the Griggs. We are having a splendid time and are very grateful for an extremely comfy bed - excited about ladies night tonight but will provide an account of Singers at a later point in time (when motivation permits).

Claire Stuart Sounds like you're having a great time!!! thanks for the updates!!! have a great time in Singapore! lots of love Claire xxx
Andrea I question the brown rating!! You have been tagged in photos today :) I'm presuming by one of the girls you met on your island trip. Looked lovely though. Almost as nice as the weather in Leyland atm! Currently studying arbitration and wills in the garden wearing a dress only appropriate for abroad... I will get changed before I leave the house! Can't wait to hear more about Singapore. Lots of love xoxoxoxox
Marco I have to agree with Andrea, bare in mind that at 100% you officially change ethnicity. Great post though and enjoy ladies night! I actually cannot imagine a more perfect idea..free entry...free alcohol, its the stuff of dreams!
chris and cathy dunne Good blog. Oz sounded good especially Sydney. Enjoy Singapore, Grandma's favourite. If you're doing Raffles probably best not mentioning Grandma's name! They made somewhat of an inpression last time they were there! Probably don't sell Goon either! Try and send photo's of grandpa's words from Changi. Grandma will be chuffed! Take care. Very jealous. Will get back to my decorating! Chris and Cath etc.
