I have a confession to make. I told you in the last blog that I would eat at Lau Pa Sat.... well I didn't. There is a restuarant/pub below the apartment block which I had noticed the day before, has the cricket on the TV. As it was a Sunday evening, I thought I would treat myself to a pizza while watching the cricket - which was shocking (the cricket, not the pizza). Anyway, so that is the update for Sunday's entry.
So, today (Monday) I headed off to the zoo, and it took forever to get there! I left the apartment just after 10.00, but didn't get in the queue for tickets until 11.30, and by the time I had the tickets, it was lunch time! I'm not going to send you to sleep by telling you everything I did at the zoo, but essentially, I did what most people do - look at the animals. I took quite a few photos, and have just spent the last hour or so deleting 73 (yes I counted) photos of baboons. They were 100% the funniest animals to watch, with the 'children' having a massive diving competition into the water, followed by a water fight. My other favourite was the elephant show, which was very well presented, with lots of "messing around" by the elephants, making everyone laugh. I will upload the zoo photos tomorrow evening (so Tuesday), after this blog is uploaded. I spent a good 4-5 hours at the zoo, so didn't get home until about 18.00, before heading down to Lau Pa Sat and then sorting the photos from the day.
Today has been a far slower day after spending all of yesterday at the zoo. I had a lazy morning, read a little of my book and watched the end of a film. Iain had sent a message a few days previously saying him and the boys were going to go to Lau Pa Sat for lunch while Somaly had yoga (I think), and asked whether I would like to join them. I met them at 12.00, and we were lucky to get a table - it was absolutely crazy down there. I have so far avoided 'peak' time for food down there, but I had forgotten quite how busy it gets! Anyway, we found somewhere, I had garlic mushroom noodles - long queue, and I could see why, they were very tasty! I get on well with the boys, having a laugh, and Iain is good fun to talk to. After food, I quickly gave them a tour of the apartment block - everything except the actual apartment as that's against the rules... shame! This afternoon I headed down to the Asian Civilisations Museum just across the river. It looked good, but I hadn't timed my trip well as I had missed the tours and it looked like something where a tour would be helpful. Also, my hip began to hurt - probably from all the walking yesterday - so I headed back to the apartment. I actually just had toast this evening as I ate out at lunch, so nothing interesting to report there!
