Singapore, Singapore
So I have made it safely from Bangkok to Singapore and have seen some amazing sights and met some great people. Hangovers have occurred often so far but it is hard not to drink when it is so cheap...
Bangkok was a scary place when me and Emma first arrived but we managed to get around quite easily on a Tuk Tuk... they were fun! We saw the Great Palace and Khao San Road before meeting the group we were travelling with and jumping on the sleeper train. To anyone who wants to travel on a sleeper train... take full advantage of the party car!
Krabi was also very beautiful and I spent the time lazing on West Railay beach and had an elephant ride in the jungle. It was great fun on the elephant and I got to feed her bananas when we got off :) We then left Krabi after a few days and headed into Malaysia...
First to Langkawi where me and Emma were staying in a dodgy room at the Sweet Inn... but again the beaches were beautiful and alcohol flowed freely and cheaply. While chilling on the beach I drank too much, ate too much and had time for a quick banana boat ride which was a good laugh.
We then went to Penang where the group went on a little tour round the city and saw Chew Jetty, Little India, China Town and some temples with the biggest Buddha I have ever seen! It was a short stay in Penang before heading into the mountains... Cameron Highlands!
Cameron Highlands were AMAZING! It was a nice break from the city heat and where we stayed was great! During my time in Cameron Highlands I tackled a jungle trail with the Yanks (Shelah, Anne & Zach) and hitchhiked back up the hill (thanks Miss Kho). I ate jellyfish, cuttlefish and crab at a steamboat restaurant and played bulls*** with a few beers in hand.
Leaving Cameron Highlands wasn't too fun with a huge hangover for the Brits from the night before and those windy roads hurt Emma a lot! However the hangover passed and we were in Kuala Lumpur! KL was an awesome city and I think I speak for everyone when I say that we fell in love with the Petronas Towers... especially when they were lit up!
Also in KL, some of the gang and I decided to visit Batu caves one morning to see the monkeys and bats... what an error! We must have climbed about 250 steps to get to the caves and on the way out we got mobbed by monkeys! Zach getting cornered by a bunch of monkeys was enough to get us running down the steps and back to KL.
From KL it was a quick stay in Melaka where there was a bit of tea tasting and a lot more drinking at Bucket bar followed by me climbing into a fountain... typical Simon really! From Melaka, we got the bus to Singapore and spent our last night checking out Marina Bay.
All in all, my trip from Bangkok to Singapore has been an awesome one and the people that we were with made the trip what it was!
