Our guide, Pom, was also the guy who sold us the tour so we sort of had an idea of what were letting ourselves in for. He spoke good enough english which is always good but there were definatly a few screws loose.
So at eight o'clock we pile into what looks like a realy big tuktuk and drive for an hour to the lake. Once there we were told to pile on the sun cream and make sure we'd been to the toilet (which were too minging to discribe) becuase we'd be in the boat for at least an hour in the backing sun. The other six people, us and the guide all piled on to this old rickity wooden long boat. It was litteraly a 14ft make shift boat made from random pieces of wood that let the water in because there was about an inch ofwater on the floor. There were lifejackets though so that was quite reasuring.
The views across the lake were asbsolutly amazing! There was just so much to look at and the water was so incredibly still so all the views were reflected in it, it was brilliant. All of a sudden the woman driving the boat starts getting really exited and tells us to look up into the trees and as sure as anything there were a whole load of gibbons (monkeys) jumping around in the trees. It was really amazing to see them in the wild especialy as your not garanteed to see anything, it was definatly a big bonus.
We finally arrive at the other side of the lake (this is one huge lake) and have to walk along a log to get onto the land because there is loads of reads in the way. You did have too stretch quite far and the log wasnt exactly safety regulated so as sure as anything simona slips at the end and lands in the water. A few meters later Pom throws down a big plastic sheet and tells us this is where we would be eating our lunch that was served to us in paper and had been bought off of a stall on the way to the lake.
Once we'd eaten we grabed our water and our treck up a 250m mountain to the view point began. Pom pointed out all the wildlife and weird bug on the way up there but the treck was really hard work. The road was nonexistant and really steap and slippery so it took alot out of us although we still had fun swinging from the vine slike tarzan. The worst part af the treck was the last 40m. The trecking had finished and we were now climbing up jagged rocks with no saftey equipment and a 100m drop if slip. Again, brilliant health and safty. It was a really frighting experience but definatly one worth doing especially for what you gat to see at the top. The view was spectacular. You could see the whole lake and all the lush forest around it. It seemed as though you could see everything for thousands of miles.
Brilliant!!!!
