If you didn't already know I like a good statistic; so here our some numbers to quantify our dream 10 months away from the real world in Latin America.
We travelled 27,655km overland from Guatemala City to Buenos Aires via 142 buses and 20 boats. (From the North Pole to the South Pole is 20,004km.)
That's 92km/day or under 4km/hr - so we took in Latin America at a slow walking pace.
If you include our flights such as our side trips to the Galápagos, the Bolivian Amazon and Iguazú plus our flights to and from England then we notched up 56,534km. (The distance around the equator is 40,075km.)
Here our some more numbers: 10 flights, 56 boats, 85 taxis, 2 bikes, 4 trains, 127 local buses (269 buses in total!), 8 tuk-tuks, 16 rides in the back of pick up trucks, 41 subway trips, 8 cable cars, 5 funiculars, 2 hire cars, 22 land border crossings, 15 countries, 12 sloths, 29 days of llamas, 0 tapirs (but we heard they were tasty), 115 different beds, 2 nights in hammocks, 4 nights in tents, 9 nights on buses and 5,346 photos.
