Jim and Sim's World Adventure
Day 11 of the Trek America Tour...Drove to Wells Grey National Park today via Mount Robson (which is the highest peak in the Canadian Rockies). We picked up our guide for the next two days (Ken) at the visitors centre then headed off to Clearwater lake. Clearwater lake is so clean you can drink the water straight from it.
On our way to the lake we came across a black bear on the road side. It looked very cute but they are mega dangerous, especially at this time of year as they have just come out of hibernation, and are looking for food...they will attack humans for food if necessary. We were told that if we came across one we should play dead for 2 minutes, if it hasn't gone by that stage then we would have to fight back...good advice eh!!!
When we got to the lake we packed all of our gear onto two person canoes (tents, food, everything) and then paddled up the lake for about 3 hours to our campsite, called Barview. It was amazing - you can only get to it by boat and there was a beach there as well.
We set up camp and Jim and Peter decided to go for a dip in the freezing cold lake.
We watched the sunset and then sat around the campfire for a while before going to bed.
