Well, we have been extremely slack with updating our travel blog, our apologies. We had an extremely busy 4 days with the conference, ran off our feet - quite literally our feet had blisters and were sore as hell...Anyways, after the conference we went to Wellington to visit family for the weekend, we had a ball and were feed so much, even Stacy could barely talk. We had a great time catching up and had a good old fashioned English pub booze up.
Monday we moved onto Oxford to meet up with our English consultant, he was great and very informative and Oxfordshire if gorgeous, exactly what you would expect from the English countryside. We stayed at the Lambert Arms, room was small (surprise, surprise), but very lovely, location was great and bed was really really comfy.
Next day had a meeting with L3 just outside of Oxford (other side - do'oh) so it took us an hour and a half to get there, good job we left early - meeting went well very promising. After meeting stopped at a local pub for lunch, bangers and mash and beef casserole - strangely good English grub. Didn't get back to room until about 4ish, so didn't get much done, though dinner in the restaurant was fabulous - if you're ever in the Oxford area, we would highly recommend the Lambert Arms.
Spent the day in Oxford, absolutely amazing place, felt smarter just being there J Saw Harry Potters dining hall in Christ Church and had fabulous Cornish pasties - all in all a good day.
Moved from Oxford to Dover today, had a couple of calls to make on the way, but go to Dover at about 430ish, went to Tesco to grab a few bits. Have to say Dover and Kent area weren't what we were expecting and stayed at the Ramada Inn, which stank of cigarette smoke... so not the best of experiences.
Thursday had a day free, so went to explore Dover castle and the war tunnels, really great. The castle was build in 1182-85, hard to imagine something that old, had been staged with beds and furniture to recreate the olden days, so looked a bit weird with lump of fake steak sitting on tables etc., but still amazing old building.
Went on a tour of war tunnels, with a 'drunken' tour guide, so was great fun... not very informative, but very entertaining. Tunnels used in WWII and went to buy Winston Churchill cup, but was $60, not even Churchill's biggest fan could come at that...!!!
